As I understand it, most intakes have pretty much negligible increases in horsepower or torque. Maybe 1-5 hp and/or ft-lbs at best, decreases in power and torque at worst.

BMW claims their performance intake increases power by 3 hp at 6,000 rpm. Not sure what GruppeM's claims are.

BMW claims 3 but #s show it's 7 to 10, still negligible

Back up to the usual 22-24 city now...but WAS down to 16-17 for the week or so after install. So, no it definitely doesn't affect usual driving mileage, but you will want to put your foot down during the honeymoon period!! :thumbsup

This is not an intake you get for power. Hell, any intake for a naturally aspirated BMW shouldn't be purchased for power. It should be purchased for sound. That is one thing the GruppeM delivers in spades. The sound that is so intoxicating that you'd want to marry it; the sound that's so intoxicating that you'd want to get on the highway and just drive by Jersey barriers all day at WOT; the sound that's so intoxicating that you'll have insomnia at night from thinking about how amazing the sound is, only to get out of bed to drive around for a while; the sound that's so intoxicating that you are signing into your PayPal account as you remember these words that you just finished reading.

As long as I don't over oil the filter when I clean it I won't have any problems with the MAF, right?

Do I need to be concerned about that bulge on the foam seal around the base of the filter?

Yup. Don't over oil it and you will be fine. I wouldn't worry about the seal. If it does go bad, you can just get a new one at your local auto store. :thumbsup

$375 counter offer. What do you guys think? I've always wanted a Gruppe M since I heard one on an M3 I drove... The problem with my car is that when I buy stuff my emotions, which really want certain things for my car, get in the way of my brain, that is trying to save me money.

From what I've seen those sold for, if it's in good shape, $350-400 shipped is a decent deal. $375 in his counter offer seems fair, especially given shipping can sometimes be expensive because of its size.

Now, it sounds like it will not fit the 330i. He lists the part as FRI-0115 (which is the right part for our cars) but he has a 2004 325i. He believes it is this model:

It's already a tight fit; I'm not too sure that coupler will fit...

It will, it just replaces the existing Gruppe M coupler. This attaches the intake to MAF

Holy hell this is spot on....

And the GruppeM will fit on a 325- ask Tony. They one I bought from him was on a 325. It had a step cupler like the one linked I believe... I left that in the box and grabbed the correct size for the 330i,
