Hey guys my car feels like it's a lot less powerful and have a slight misfire between 2800-3000 rpm. Did a Google search and people are saying to get the DME reprogrammed. No check engine light, I had a guy scan my car for stored codes and it showed 28dd, 2974, 2973. Seems to me like it might be a mass air sensor issue but it's just a guess. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I had the exact issue plus another 4k dip. Well, I didn't get a misfire between 2800-3000. I had really bad hesitation under load at that RPM.

Does yours do it under light throttle or just under load?

I ultimately replaced my Vanos seals (which did nothing for the hesitation), replaced the plugs, and then updated my DME. The DME update solved it all for me. Feels like a different car now.

I believe it's under load for me aswell. Sounds exactly like your issue. I'm gonna do the plugs next week regardless of the issue but my research is also making me lean towards DME update. Any idea how much it would cost at the dealer?

DME update is normally one hour of labor (my dealer is $150/hr) or a $199 "reflash" charge.

i'm having the same issue, dip around 4000-4500RPM is pretty bad. sometimes it's fine, sometimes not. i think it's related to the pre-cat O2's... got a set to replace them, but want to get the DME reflashed as well.

It does have to to with the O2's but it has to do with the way the DME uses the O2 data. That's the what the reflash resolves.

Also, try an independent shop to get it reflashed. That's what I did. Where are you located Mystic?

I'm in Mississauga Ontario. Got an appointment with the dealer on Wednesday. 149.99$ for dme update. Hope it solves the issue

reprogram of DME will get rid of your 2-3k RPM stutter. the "4k dip" is typically either the DISA valve needing replaced OR more often than not a clearing of the adaptations on the DME. google search or search on this site will generate more info if needed.

Should I ask the dealer to clear/ reset my adaptation values while they are updating my dme?

I thought it did automatically. Otherwise I don't see a reason why not to if you're having a drivability issue.

Yah your right. I never had to deal with anything like this so don't know the exact procedures... I would assume the would reset the computer it makes sense

So I had a bit of time to spare today and decided to change my plugs before I take it into the dealer on Wednesday. Replaced all the plugs took it for a drive and no more hesitation. I will be taking the car to work everyday, about 100km round trip and see if my problem comes back. I'll post a pic of the plugs can some one let me know what they think. Also should I still get my dme updated? Is there a way to check what software I currently have?

Cool man. I looked back at the 1st page and I don't see plugs or mileage mentioned.

Good luck man I hope it fixed it.

Thanks jb3 the car has 209km and the plugs were replaced 35km ago. But we will see what the next few days hold for me. I'll keep everyone who's interested posted.
