I am looking at getting a set of BBS CH wheels from someone and they come with tires. The tires have been sitting in a room for a few years, are they still usable? Tires are Goodyear Eagle F1's and have about 80% tread left. Seller says they are not dry-rotted. Just wondering what the life expectancy is of a tire that has been stored in a room for that long. Do I need to get new tires? I would assume that I would just have to put some air in them. Any input is appreciated. And while I am discussing this, how are the Goodyear Eagle F1's, good or bad?

Per Discount Tire, tires need replacement every 6 to 10 years.

There's a "DOT" number on the sidewall (example, 2712 is the 27th week of 2012) that indicates when they were made. Check that number and report back.

I texted the seller, will report back when I get the DOT.

Yeah definitely are no good. Well, I guess it a no go on the wheels then. As much as I would love to buy those wheels and consider it as a "maintenance" purchase for the tires, the tires I have now are fine and I can use the money else where. Bummer, but that just means I can get a few other mods instead. And I may just paint my ZHP wheels anthracite grey :thumbsup

Well you can try to negotiate with him, 10 yr old tires hold no value, maybe they'll drop the price accordingly?

Yeah it is a very good deal w/ tires. But since the tires are useless, I would rather put the money towards other mods/maintenance.

If stored in a climate controlled location then they should be fine.
