For sale is a pair of BMW Performance 6-piston calipers (yes, the yellow ones). I took them off because they are leaking fluid and I can't be bothered to deal with them. I really want Wilwoods, which is why I am not going to fix these anymore.

These have been rebuilt with stainless steel pistons, which are a big upgrade over the stock pistons which have ceramic caps that tend to crack. They currently have Racingbrake.com seals installed (the upgraded higher temp version). I don't know if they're leaking because the seals are bad or if I just didn't install them properly, but no effort will be instilled on my part to fix them, so I am listing them at this price for that reason.

Included will be the two front calipers, ECS Tuning bracket adapters to make these fit our E46 non-M's (you cannot buy these brackets without purchaing the full $1700 kit from them), stainless steel lines, a pair of Hawk HP+ brake pads (good pad life left), and a pair of EBC Redstuff pads (good pad life left). If I can find them, I'll also include the original, non-cracked pistons.

Pics will be posted this week.

Asking $500 plus actual shipping costs to your door. Would prefer local pickup, or can deliver within reasonable driving distance from 06606 for the cost of gas and tolls.

$500 ?? Seriously??

Get them back in working condition and you could get ~ $1200

I was not in the market for any BBK because of cost but if that is really what you want to do I'll take them, and I won't resell them, I will absolutely put them on my car.

Jeez, BP. Hit me up off line to let me know what needs to be done to make these things happy and serviceable.

$500 takes into the account the history and condition of the calipers. They are nowhere near perfect, and have imperfections. Plus, even if I rebuilt them again, I can't get anywhere near $1200 for them because they're around that much for brand new ones. Yes, mine were rebuilt with pistons that will never have problems with cracking, but they leak and honestly am not willing to fix them. I want them out of my life.

The history:
Purchased new from ECS Tuning and installed. No problems for quite a while.
Decided to rebuild with stainless steel pistons (designed by Chad44) and seals from Racingbrake.com. Total cost was about $400.
They leaked. Took them off the car and they sat for a while. Rebuilt them again with the same kind of seals. Reinstalled.
They leaked again. Contacted Racingbrake.com and asked WTF; they said their previous seal design had a defect and sent me the updated design. They sat again for a while because I tore one of the dust boots and had to order another set, and that took a while due to finances. Eventually replaced all seals and dust boots again. Reinstalled, and guess what; they leaked again after about 6 months.

This is where it stands now, and I'm done with them. If I had to take a guess, the seals from Racingbrake.com are shit, but I can't verify that since I never tried seals from any other vendor. I can't guarantee that seals are the problem, though they are the most likely culprit.

I am buying BP's car, one part at a time...

Posted that in August... And the hits keep coming.

Karl texted me last night with his interest before anyone responded to the thread and committed to buying. My apologies if it looked like I skipped anyone!

Thanks for the interest, all. I'm shocked so many people were interested to be honest.

Working third shift and sleeping during the morning and first part of the afternoon always screws me. I found something else to upgrade on the interior of the car today instead that cost 400, so I still disappointed my bank account haha

While that is technically true, that doesn't exactly make someone feel better. William responded within 20 minutes, but it had already been claimed. That's pretty darn quick! No snoozing there. :)

Absolutely not.
William was on the ball.

Honestly, William - you're better off buying brand new ones. You don't track your car so you'll never have a problem with the factory pistons cracking. New ones are less than $500 each... last time I checked, they were over $600 each, so prices are coming down dramatically. Wait a little while longer and you can get a new pair for not much more...

I know the buyer can take advantage of the stainless steel pistons because I'm sure I'll be able to convince him to do a track event with me one day. Hint Hint... ;)

EDIT: Oops, sorry; I forgot about the brackets. You'd have find them, or have them made if you did buy new, William. Wish ECS would just sell the damn things individually...

Yeah the brackets are key and I think you're underestimating their value.

Can't believe I missed out on these! I'm literally only 10 minutes from you, in Stratford. I really need to start checking these forums as often as I do on M3F..
