Id say it's mainly a walk around / vacation lens/ general use lens. The range is made to be versatile for any situation a normal consumer/hobbiest may need it for. Wide enough to shoot stuff like cars at a meet, mountain landscapes in Europe or large groups of people in tight spaces but also 50mm on a crop sensor camera is good zoom for close ups of your famous BBQ chicken, family (aka mafia) reunions and the family Holiday portraits as well.
