View Full Version : EML Light, and that's the only one...

PROBLEM: EML comes on ONLY when attempting to accelerate briskly from a stop.

No other lights come on. Throttle still works, but lags big time. It also does not allow full throttle, maybe just less than half.

Connected BMW Scanner... The following code is what was pulled. It is the same code that keeps popping up every so often. This happens maybe 3 or 4 times in a year. Turn off, and on again... No problems.

DTC, hex[dec]
27F7 [10231] Pedal input poti1 ...another translation of the 27F7 is "27F7 Pedal travel sensor, potentiometer 1 signal "

I have found a pdf that highlights how this works... a great read. I feel pretty confident now that the pedal needs to be replaced.
http://www.ge39.com/files/m54x5.pdf Pages 11-13 are most relevant to the pedal and throttle body.

I have searched as much as I can about this, and the threads are all pretty inconclusive. The OP normally just disappears after complaining.
So... I'm about to order the pedal.
Has anyone else had to replace the pedal?
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Part number for a pedal? Curious in cost. My pedal makes an annoying clicking sound.

As far as your issue, it could be a bad pedal position switch. Interested to see if a new pedal fixes the issue.

(OLD) 35406762480 VS (NEW) 35426786281

Part number changed... usually a good indication that something changed with the design.

SO, outlook is good...
Have driven about 100 miles, and it seems that it has cured the problem.

If anything changes, I will definitely report back on it! :biggrin

And yes, I vacuumed everything very well before installing the new one.

Have you noticed any improvement in throttle response at all?

Yeah. This was necessary. The removal and install was SUPER easy. Literally 5 minutes. Only need a thin flathead.

Just before install, I reset adaptations when I cleared codes (although it was not necessary), so verdict is still out on response.
Give me a week and I will update.
