Hello Everyone!

My name is Jon, and I'm signing in for the first time just now, though i've been following the classifieds and some other threads on this site since last November 2014. Dane was nice enough to let me join after I sent a request, and i'm excited to finally be able to post!

Me: I've lived in SF for 10 years, though i'm originally from Virginia Beach, as well as Charleston, SC. I'm a southern transplant to the west coast. I currently work for a commercial airline ( you can probably guess which one by my location ) and design airplane interiors, as well as digital products. I specialize in User Interface Design, and have a background in both digital design and advertising. I'm currently working on new seat designs as well as other space designs to hopefully make flying commercial suck less. I love all things design—including, you guessed it, cars.

My Car: I currently have a titanium silver e46. It's not a ZHP, but my next one will be. It's got 180k miles on it, but looks beautiful still. I'm very meticulous with my cars, cosmetically and under the hood. It's time to get a ZHP now.

My Future Car: I'm hoping the awesome community here can help me get my dream ZHP. I've been looking for about 4 months but haven't had luck yet. I've tried to learn as much as humanly possible about the ZHP, and the market. Much of that has been from reading on this site, and for that, i thank you all!

I'll post this part again in the classifieds under wanted to buy, but here it is here too: I'm ideally looking for a super clean 2005 6MT Black on Black 330i (Sedan) with under at 100k miles. If it's on the west coast, i'd consider under 120k, but no higher. If it's cross country, it's gotta be under 100k for to make it worth the work. It's gotta have heated seats, cause i have back injury, as the heat really helps when i'm sitting for extended periods. I don't mind paying a bit of a premium if i have to, to get the right car. I'd also consider a grey exterior. I have cash, and i'm willing to pay up to around 20k for the right car, but hoping to keep it less. It's been proving very hard to find a very clean example with my specific wants. I don't mind putting some work into the car, as long as it makes economical sense.

Also: I'd like the car to be stock height. I'm open to other mods potentially.

Thanks in advance for any help, and I look forward to hopefully being a productive member of the community. If anyone has any design related questions or requests, happy to try to help.

Vas

Welcome to the family, JG ! You will like this forum. GL with your search, with that budget you will find a good ZHP. Or, did I hear you have one in mind already ?

Well welcome and unless the car has sold Stuart's old car seems to fit the bill unless it is missing heated seats.

Edit: has heated seats. Saw you posted there already. I would fly out sight unseen on this one only because it has the backing of quite a few prominent forum members that have seen it in person. Feel free to not do that but just trying to let you know it's a clean example.

Thanks for vote of confidence on that ZHP! I saw one person commented (in that thread) they saw it in person. Have their been other discussions about this car elsewhere on the site?

thanks!

You mean avoid driving in SF at all times now? HAHA. I've actually moved over to Richmond Annex area, (around Albany/El Cerrito area) in light of the insane rent in the city. Traffic is getting worse and worse out here.... 80 is so terrible between Emeryville and Albany, I try to avoid it as much as possible..

Welcome JG, post a pic of your non ZHP car. There are several of us in this position.

Good luck with the seat design. The weirdest seats I sat in recently were in a local airline called Allegient air. The seat back was really thin and shaped to accommodate the knees of the person behind you. Bottom cushion was too thin, and I was glad this was a 1.25 hour flight from Lexington KY to Orlando FL.

What design school did you go to?

Welcome to the family and the Bay Area.

I was thinking if you can't find the ZHP, Dario might be able to build you one. :cigar
