I'm looking for a stereo with the aux input in the back, must be 2004 and up though. I already got burned on an '02 unit that had the input, however apparently that doesn't mean it's funcitonal :( Preferrably I'd like to have one of the below part #'s, but it's not mandatory. As long as it has AUX capability that's all I care about. It should have the black metal top/side piece as well, outlined in red in the pics. Thanks for looking!

how much are you looking to pay?

I'm probably not willing to pay more than $80, but would prefer to be in the $50-$60 neighborhood. As it turns out, to make the system work properly I also need the passive amp from an '02 and newer, so I'm in the market for that as well. No idea what those are going for.

I found a guy in Seattle selling the entire HK system out of an '04 ci; deck, passive amp, fronts, rears, tweets, subwoofer unit for $50! But alas, the deck part# isn't on the "approved" list, but for $50 it's almost worth it so I can have the amp, and extra speaks to use or resell

If it's really out of an 04 it should be aux capable. The head unit out of my 03 ZHP worked with the aux just fine

I wouldn't worry too much about the part number. Try to get a picture of the sticker on top. If it's September 2002 or newer, it will work with aux.

The problem is I've heard so many different opinions on it I'm not sure what to think, and I already got burned on one stereo out of an '03 that had the input but didn't work. Come to find out the passive antenna amp I need to make it work is not power amp in that pic, it looks like a power strip and it's located on the drivers side C pillar. I'm about to give up! In the beginning everything I read sais get an '02 or newer deck, buy the $30 aux cord and boom, you're good! Couldn't be further from the truth unfortunately...

From what I understand the HK amp from coupes are not compatible with sedans.

Based on the pcitures in your other thread, you tried an 02 unit, not an 03. Those are known not to work. An 03 (technically September 02) unit or newer will have the aux capability.

The units with the black metal on the side are 05+ units; they are MP3 capable and tend to be more expensive than the rest.

He needs the antenna amplifier from an 02+ to receive decent radio reception after upgrading to a newer radio (he has an 01 car)

Right, but it was out of an '03 car, or at least per the fine gentleman I bought it from at McDonalds on I-5, it was

It was probably replaced with an older unit at some point before the car was parted out (if the guy was honest). Just ask for pictures of the radio sticker. If the sticker says September 02 or later, it should be fine (there might be a gray area where some July and August versions work, but not worth risking it unless aux capability can be demonstrated to you)
