Just replaced the rear end oil, the car has 100K miles and as far as I know the oil is original. It had goldish tint to it. Expected to be essentially fully black or at least not at all see-through. Also its consistency felt almost identical to the new Redline 75W90 that went in. Anyone else had these results? I am also curious to to hear what the tranny oil looked like for those that replaced it close at 100K.

Had I known, I probably wouldn't have crawled down there.. I realize fresh oil is better than old but practically speaking I feel like it could have gone another 50K.

When I did my rear diff and tranny oil at 100K it was dark and nasty! Changing the oil even thou it might not of been needed is cheap piece of mind.

Maybe it was replaced. You can have it tested.

From you sig I am assuming you have an M3. I have an E30 M3 as well and that one needs new rear diff fluid every 15K miles only because I auto-x it and the clutch packs wear out its surface into the oil.

I am starting to suspect that it was done, despite the fact that the ZHP is street driven only with no LSD.
