Got my beautiful new shift knob in the mail today, but I can't get the old on off! Please help...

Just pull. It's not threaded, glued, or anything else.

Just a little elbow grease. Put it in second gear and pull straight up...hard.

Takes about 80 pounds of force to come loose iirc.

Just be careful that you don't blast yourself in the face when it breaks loose. I've read about it happening more than once.

You prolly would have smacked yourself in the face without these guys. Glad it's on...but not impressed with the pics.

Grasp the shaft just below the knob and begin tugging firmly. Be careful because when it comes you may get hit in the face.

Ooops I skipped past that reading the mobile side. I'm so used to seeing sigs on a post to associate it with. My bad.

To lighten things up once you get used to that quick firm yank, you'll be able to get your knob off anytime. I can do it right now for example without hurting myself. :D

Haha I figured someone would turn the shaft grab 'n' pull into that. And sorry guys, interior pics coming soon! I've currently got a very naggy gf who is now under the impression that my new "stupid car" is replacing her...chicks man. I snuck out to the garage to paint the mesh grill/air dam last night and got an earful...

I feel you on the car thing and girlfriend. After you get married -- to this girl or another one -- you won't necessarily get an earful. Instead, you will get the rolling eyes.

I can live with it. :biggrin

She'll get over it, I hope... Shoot the car is a week old, cut me some slack woman, sorry that I'm excited about it still! She does have one good point though, I'm dropping $$ on this thing like I'm rich, already put more than $1300 into it in a little over a week (all performance/cosmetic upgrades)...I should probably chill on that for a little while. This thing is gonna nickel and dime my arss all the way to an empty bank account, haha.

Chill and/or start working on preventative maintenance items. Or you can tell her to deal with it or gtfo....

Depends on what type of guy you are...

Nah it doesn't matter what I'm doing, she doesn't know/care the difference between maintenance and upgrades...it's all just me not spending time with her is all. She'll get over it, and I'm about done for now anyhow.

Jeff, yep. It's new. You'll ease off the pedal soon. You'll be just fine.

Hey Dane, if you have some free time and feel like helping a brother out again, I'd like to update my sig pic to this one... You did a sweet job on my current one, and I'm still pc illiterate. If not no worries at all, I'm sure I'll survive haha.

Seriously, this is what I would tell my girlfriend if I had one. As long as I'm paying my bills on time and am not strained financially, it is none of her goddamn business what the money gets spent on.

It's a time thing, not a $$ thing, she has no input on what I spend my cabbage on...
