Lens Restoration for $5.00 !!
I was kinda bored today and have no mods currently to do on the M3 so I figured "why not do some detailing"! My brake lights have some mild oxidation on the passenger side. So I went thru all my detailing supplies to see what I could try. I had some BlueMagic Metal Polish that works great on chrome and aluminum rims. The package says for use on Plexiglass, Fiberglass and Polyester Varnishes. I decided to give it a try in a small spot on my brake light.
- I used some blue shop towels and a wet paper towel.
- Cut the shop towel in half and use one for the polish and the other to buff off the polish.
- Apply a very small amount and gently rub back and forth in a uniform pattern. When I started rubbing you can hear the rough surface from the oxidation and it quickly goes away as you rub.
- Once it gets quiet and smooth stop and use the other half of the shop towel to buff it off.
I couldn't believe the difference, this stuff actually restored the lenses to like new condition! It removed all of the oxidation and even some of the minor scratches! No additional scratches were found from using this product. I tried it on my headlight lenses which are pitted pretty good after 10 years and it didn't work. I just ordered some replacement lenses.
