Name That Tool Game

Not long ago, I purchased a new tool box and when I was transferring my tools from my old box, I had many old tools from the 70s & 80s when I turned wrench for a living. These are unique for a special application.

My thought is that this would carry the same rules as the picture game thread except, that after the two week time period; the closest guess would be selected as the winner by the poster. The poster could go into more detail of the tool application after that win. These tools can be any tool; a tool of your trade, a household tool, a yard tool, or anything special needed to complete or aid in the completion of a job.

I’ll start off with this one! Name this tool and what I used it for.

As above. My guess is this was used to bend electrical conduit.

Pipe benders are always curved so as the pipe bends the pressure point moves.

Obviously there's some parts missing but I think it's used to hold a round object down.

The end opposite the threads goes into a hole in the frame. The hook goes around the upper control arm shaft. That shaft is held in place with (2) 1/2" bolts. You loosen the bolts and tighten the nut on the tool to make adjustments. Moving both the front and back equally adjusts the camber, moving the front or back individually adjusts the caster. To much negative caster on one side will cause a pull and to much positive caster will make the car wander. Think of a chair caster, it always pulls to the back allowing for better direction change.

Ok, this is a tool that is not very common anymore due to modern technology and design. Lots of people used to keep them in their trunks, nowadays I doubt many people do but perhaps in rural areas it would be more common.

OK fine. The tool actually goes into the tach terminal on a GM V8 from the late 70s early 80s. It was really quick and easy for setting up the SUN scope. The connector was hidden under the plastic and you would make the connection by feel. Once installed just connect the alligator clip for the tach to the two prong end that stuck up once installed.

I use it for the oxyacetylene torch, but yes it works for a Bunsen burner too

Looks like a fan removal tool.

The tool looks like it punches a rod or insert out of or into position. The bottom part of the tool slides over a rod or bolt and then the handle is moved to push a short pin ether out of position or into position. My guess is the tool is used to disassemble/assemble some kind of linkage having a rocker cam arm of some sort. This is a scientific wild assed guess (SWAG), of course.

Here's another guess: The tool is used to remove or install small springs. One loop end of a spring is attached on the device where it is to become part of the operating assembly and the loop at the opposite end of the spring is put onto the peg pin of the tool in the picture. The c-shaped portion of the tool rests onto a bolt or rod that acts as a leveraging pivot point. The tool is pulled to stretch out the spring until the loop on the tool reaches the corresponding pin on the device assembly where it is to be permanently placed. A lot of words to say the tool is used to put on or take off small coil springs in tight places where it would be hard to use pliers to pull the spring out to get onto or off of the device assembly.

i was thinking of something similar - the pin in the tool is used to rotate on.

Rolled springs that are shaped like a snail that are used to support a hood need to be replaced now and then. So, you take out the rolled spring compressor! Duuuh.

Well, there is a spring involved in this setup as a tensioner but it is nowhere near where this tool does it's job

If it is a puller, the job only requires a short stroke and the spring or weight being lifted on the other end must be pretty strong or heavy judging by the length of the tool's lever arm. Hermes, by chance have you used this tool in a non-designed manner for hitting onto some stubborn/stuck item? The jaw end of the tool has got some "mushroom" formation.

I keep envisioning a button/pylon of some type rising independently through and slightly above the plane. The tool's center section sits on this button with the jaws latched onto open slots in the plane. The tool handle is pulled down and the planar surface rises up 25 to 50 mm allowing some kind of access or adjustment to be made.
