Sigh. So I don't know how to drive a stick. *dodges tomatoes* I've been driving for over 10 years and not one of my friends has ever had a manual car. Learning to drive a stick has been on my list for a while, but it's now moved up in priority for what is possibly a very silly reason: The honeymoon packages my fiancé keeps looking at for Italy includes "rental of manual transmission car." So it's time to get serious lol

Are there ZHPM members willing to spend some time with me? It doesn't have to be in your ZHP; it can be a minivan for all I care. I'll leave you with a full tank of gas and/or lunch/dinner!

Nice. I taught the 16 year old in a few hours. He had it on his own the next day. You'll get it.

Call a driving school and see if they have a manual car.

Also, that 3 pedal minivan is probably rare as fuck...

Edit: OMG... you can get a 6MT Mazda5

but it's still all about the Caravan Turbo

JP, i had forgotten all about that caravan... nice one!

stephen, you'll pick it up, no problem. i taught my wife to drive a manual about 6-7 years ago after she professed "all the cool girls drive a manual!" and wanted to learn - hey, awesome. we went to a vacant parking lot, with kids in tow... i think they were 1 and 4 at the time... and she picked it up in a couple of hours.

now she doesn't want anything but a manual trans in the driveway!

i'm sure one of the local 'mafioso will be happy to show you the ropes.

Stephen, you can practice in my E36. We just have to find a big empty parking lot to start (and not the hills of San Francisco). But wait, you're up in Sonoma County, right? Just a bit of a drive to get down to where I live. Or are you in Banana Slug country?

Nothing about crappy 80s minivans are a good trip, I would still take a flat 6 swapped Type 2 over any "minivan"

Porsche B32 comes a close second, but I was never a fan of the T3 body style and to actually find one of the 5(?) real B32s is probably gonna be impossible

Up/down shits were fine. It was getting started that kept messing me up. Started (and stalled) from 3rd a few times on accident :(

Nice. Yup, easy to stall when first starting, just keep with it. :thumbsup
