Alcantara panels on eBay:

Have to make sure you get the right color... I kinda remember ours might not be the black?

How much material is needed for just a side bolster?
Side note, maybe I should've posted this thread in the general forum. My bad :-/

A driver side bolster? According to Shawn, you can do top side bolsters with a rear side bolster.

Yes, if you need to do the lower 1/2 of the seat-back (the part that always wears), the amount from the rear removable side-bolster is enough.
This add says The price refers to 1Lfm (1,00m x 1,50m) and it looks like the min order is 1m. I can't speak to the color.

Also note that if this is indeed real Alcantara, the material may differ from what we have in our cars since ours isn't the real deal.

Interesting, can you clarify BP? Any idea what it is if not Alcantara?

I think it's a fake version of it. From what I've read the real Alcantara is overall better quality and more durable. It would be nice to get confirmation on it though, since I don't think BMW says whether it's real so I got this from various online sources. Who knows how reputable they may be, but I would totally believe it if it was fake since this is a "low end" car from the material's perspective.

9002 is the grey (bolsters) but it is not the "cover" type(used on bolsters) it is the panel type so price vs. shipping (and also cm conversion) just make sure it is a full yard if not you would be better off just buying from gulf fabrics(price vs. time to receive from Germany) but it looks to have the stamp on it so should be real

I contacted the seller both thru eBay and by the email they have listed in the auction. Still waiting to hear back. They said they offer free samples, so I'm trying to get one :-)

Alright guys, I found the article I had in mind. Ignore me. The comparison that was made was actually a discussion of Alcantara vs suede, which is a different discussion. Alcantara itself is fake, sort of. It's man-made suede, and we have Alcantara in our cars so I was only half right. lol
Sorry about that, foggy memory doesn't help, which is why I looked for it.
