I found a gruupe m a few months ago on eBay. It was a 325 version however. Still fits and everything after getting the right coupling. Good luck man

Just keep looking in the classified section of e46Fanatics, here, and on eBay. They come up every once in awhile. I managed to score two of them within 6 months for around $350..... good luck :thumbsup

Y'all aren't the only ones shopping for one. I have considered breaking down and getting the aFe instead

I had the aFe CAI at one time in my ZHP until I finally sourced Derek's (Derbo) Carbon Kevlar Gruppe M CAI. Then a few months after getting Derek's I found another that was in carbon fiber so I got that as well. I now have the carbon fiber Gruppe M CAI in my car and the one I sourced from Derek is in another ZHP being well taken care of. The aFe CAI was nice and in my opinion, you can't go wrong having this if you "break down" ;)

Gruppe M sounds the best. AFE might have less heatsoak, but I'm back to stock :)

Sound isn't a need, I won't hear either over my exhaust (not a bad problem to have IMO)

GruppeM was louder than my TSE3 on the track. It droned during WOT around 5000rpm but I could hear it through my helmet.

Save your money. Get a nice dry performance intake filter.
If you see it pop up, snag a BMW Performance intake. The one I had was a long tube w/ open filter. It sat behind the fog light. Gains were awesome and sound was phenomenal.

What were the gains? I'd be interested in seeing the dyno with and without longtube.

Didn't get them with the ZHP. Dyno on the 328i was coupled with the manifold swap. Didn't have a solid number with it. Showed 177 whp with stock M52tub28 software. The stock factory engine output was 193hp.

Disagree. Having had all 3 setups spoken about here I can safely tell you if you want power the Gruppe is the least productive. AFe with the heat shield is best power producer, stock box with a drop in and Gruppe are about the same however Gruppe loses a touch in the low end. If you have exhaust then it's probably not worth the extra money. You could get some tuning done for less than that and have even more top/bottom end power. ;)
If you want some eye candy, then yes a full CF intake is good looking.
Just my $.02

i have the aFe Pro Dry S and i definitely notice a power difference over the stock intake, especially up top (i've gone back and forth between setups).
the sound is awesome, too.

I ran the stage 2 AFE but I took it out due to fitment issues. It had a nice growl and it sounded really good after I put my headers in. To my knowledge, the Gruppe M was the best option and by far the best looking imo.
I'll take another look at the AFE w/ the heat shield. A CF Dinan long tube popped up locally, are those any good?

never had a chance to use one, depending where it leads the filter to could be good/bad.

What would one need to use a 325 Gruppe m on the ZHP? Just the coupler?
