Hi.

I'm Dave. Before I had the beginnings of a BMW problem, I had a serious Jeep problem. But it wasn't a cool Wrangler problem, it was a Grand Cherokee problem; and old ones. The kind that made peoples' faces drop when you explain you're into Jeeps, and then you tell them that you like the old soccer mom ones, not the ones where the tops come off.

Here's various pictures of where I threw away a lot of money over not a lot of time. Jeep people will have an idea of what was done, everyone else will see a whole bunch of letters and numbers.

1998 ZJ, 4.0/42RE/NP231, HP30/8.8 with Detroit and 4.10's, 35" MTR-K's, Warn XD9000i, ARB bumper, etc. Where this problem started:

http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff295/squashman702/DSC_1176.jpg (http://s243.photobucket.com/user/squashman702/media/DSC_1176.jpg.html)

Where this one wound up:

http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff295/squashman702/DSC_0380.jpg (http://s243.photobucket.com/user/squashman702/media/DSC_0380.jpg.html)

Then, at the same time, I had this one. 1998 5.9 Limited, SCT tuned, 50mm throttle body, etc.

http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff295/squashman702/Yeeeep001.jpg (http://s243.photobucket.com/user/squashman702/media/Yeeeep001.jpg.html)

Then, I bought another one of these, except someone smashed it up. Made some more money to throw away on the green one by parting it out.

Somewhere in there for a couple months, I had this Maxima SE, 5MT. It was rotten. Don't buy cars at night.

http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff295/squashman702/001-1.jpg (http://s243.photobucket.com/user/squashman702/media/001-1.jpg.html)

Then I had a Cherokee for like 10 months. It was boring and stock.

Then, shockingly, another ZJ. This one was a 1994, with a factory 5 speed. One of the rarest ZJ's ever built at 1 of 400. Had this one for a couple years, and it drove me over the edge to the point where I was forced to get into BMW's. Had 2" lift, 31's, etc by the time I was done.

http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff295/squashman702/NACfest2014003_zps63c11075.jpg (http://s243.photobucket.com/user/squashman702/media/NACfest2014003_zps63c11075.jpg.html)

Then there was this one. Bought it sight unseen on ebay about 14 months ago, just finished parting it out after I unlifted it, and spent a bunch of money and time. Did I mention I happen to be good at wasting money on future scrap metal? This was modified, M1 intake, EQ 2.02 heads, Doug Thorley headers, etc.

And finally, after far too many Grand Cherokees with no soccer practices to attend, I wound up with something decent. 2004 330i ZHP, 6MT, Xenons, HK, Silver trim. Fun times.

So yeah, cars and stuff. I'm on the insty-grams too, @davemakepictar

Great first post…love the self-deprecation!

Nice looking ZHP. I'm assuming you have plans for it given you're modding history?

Hi Dave. Welcome to the Mafia. You are in good company as there are a few of us on here (some more delinquent then others in terms of their frequenting the site) that have come over from the dark side of Mopar ownership to das German autos. It's ok though since we have moved from:

Just

to

Break
My
Wallet

:facepalm:facepalm There is no hope for us, but at least you are in good company. Here is a shot from my Jeep days that was published in the Jeep Magazine back in the day. I tried to find the raw photo, but could only find the entire page, and this is before some additional mods were done to the Wrangler and Cherokee:

Also, excellent choice in ZHP colors! Look forward to having you be a part of this diverse family. :roundel

Thanks everyone for the welcome, now to address a few things:

I can't leave things alone, so I'm sure I'll get into some stuff. Needs the Inspection II done first, though. And I think it's got a bad idler pulley, so while I'm in there, I better do underdrives, then . . .

Welcome Dave! :hi

Good idea, but I'd find a way to give the thing death wobble.

Patrick, I'm working on more....I have Channing and Chad, both of which also have Imola ZHPs :) I'd like to get the whole group together sometime in spring for a nice photoshoot. I'm also open to location....as long as it's scenic....

I paid $9k with 127k on it and some minor lighting stuff done. There were some receipts from maintenance as well, but not a real "plan" in place, so I'm going to correct that.

I love the Toyotas too- a buddy had a SAS swapped 87 or so 4Runner on 34's for a bit. It was a rot box, but it did well. One of my good friends who wheeled Jeeps with me for years just bought a 2008 Speedway Blue TRD Offroad Tacoma 6MT. Drove that a bunch since he's had it and I like that truck too- just a bitch to park in Boston.

I'm just around the corner from Sudbury... I drive through it everyday. We should plan a small get together.
