Hey all, I just received my splitters from John, thanks John! Just wondering for those of you with these, how should I install them and make skid plates?

I used bolts from underneath and 3M tape on the upper portion. I think Joop solely used 3M tape. Beta link is what's supposed to be used but rarely is used I believe.

If I had to install a set of these, I'd drill three small holes on the underside of the splitter, with three matching holes on underside of bumper, then run in three self tappers. 3M tape on top edge.

Hmm I was going to use double-sided tape and some self tapping screws on the bottom. On the UPS vehicle for delivery today.

YW. Yup, 2 or 3 1" stainless steel screws in the bottom (just drill into your bumper), and double sided tape (or adhesive) for the edges. Don't use betalink - it's basically permanent. If one of your splitters bites it, you'd be stuck (pun intended) with betalink.

+1 and lots of pressure against the bumper to lessen the gaps.

That's a good one. I've never heard anything BUT complaints about their splitter fitment.

If you are able to get the plastic expanding bolts, that would be a better route.

What advantage do these have? Thanks.

Instead of screws and washers, use the two piece plastic expanding rivets. You have seen them before. One is the rivet nail and the other is the expanding washer. See photo of the underside of the splitter. Photos not so good. But you get the picture of the plastic expanding rivet. All holes in the splitter will align exactly to the holes of the lower bumper. When all holes align, then you know they are spot on. Except one hole in the splitter. You have to drill an extra hole on the lower bumper. I installed the OE ABS plastic splitter. And the plastic rivets can easy be pulled out.

I made skid plates myself. Made a set for me and one for john. Saved my splitters lives considerably

What a great idea. What metal material did you use or other type?

Aluminum from lowes. Cut to shape and then curved the front edge up so it can deflect without getting ripped off

What's the thickness of the aluminum? Was the aluminum pre-bended in an angle from Lowes? You only installed the aluminum on the (knife) edge of the splitter? Please provide pics of the splitter with aluminum.

How did you secure to the splitter?

The closest that can be used from Lowes are aluminum flashings.

As already said tape and screws is the way to go.

As for the tape as auto zone they sell black 3m tape that is meant for body kits.

Its generally the best stuff to use.
