View Full Version : Wheel - Color

I'm forward thinking to the next set of tires and that thought expands to wheels. My ZHP is a silver gray metallic vert and I am struggling with wheel "color" - chrome, silver, or black. Silver (like the stock wheels) blends in too much with the paint color, so I'm leaning away from the color. So....throw this one out to the forum. Chrome or black? I look forward to the feedback.

No chrome. Period. Only polished lips.
I'd go with a charcoal color or a hyper silver.

Neither, IMO.

Wheels should always have some contrast to the vehicle color to make them stand out IMHO.

I agree with this modified statement.

But wheels should be the jewelry of the car - like a beautiful woman (or man...), they look great without bling...but a nice necklace or earring makes that extra sparkle...
black is muted and boring - looks like you are running black painted steelies

That's why most go semigloss or matte so you still can see the contour of the wheel from the finish. Gloss black gets lost easily.

Yup, black wheels can get lost, I'd vote against that. Hyper black (which is not really black) looks good, as do some of the other suggestions like polished, hyper silver, etc.

Don't hate on the steelies... I'm thinking of getting a few sets of 15x8 actually

Both the old ones. Wide steelies are like $70 each brand new

So I'm curious... why do you want such heavy wheels?

To prevent car from blowing away in a tornado? To aid his heavy thinking? To avoid embarrassing other cars in street races?
I know... it's to mount snow tires in San Diego, because of climate change!

I doubt they weigh that much. Also, because the E21 offset is so shallow I don't have much choice available in those sizes and offsets. These make for cheap spare wheels so I don't have to use my BBS' all the time
