I can totally see the difference in quality between PB and Flickr. Especially in that last shot.

Thanks for posting the A-B test. Hard to tell on my phone. Need to get to a PC. I still find it strange a site would enhance hosted pictures without printing you, etc. Did it?

I only use photobucket for random pictures I want to post. Flickr gets all my good photos and track day pictures!

Photobucket definitely kills the quality. I think Flickr is the photographer's choice for hosting pics without it killing the quality.

Wow. Dane that last shot speaks volumes. The color of your car really pops in the Flickr shot. Huh... I need to start using my Flickr account from now on.

Not to mention the fact that Flickr now gives you 1TB of memory. I used to barely use it because without a paid account you could upload only 200 pictures. Now I have hundreds of pictures and barely used any of my 1TB!

Have you tried imgur? Flickr is the best but I'm curious its comparison to imgur.

I have both Flickr and Imgur. never done a side by side comparison. But I've been very pleased with imgur. Easy to upload, access and use + great quality.

That's a pretty significant difference. Look at all the detail lost in the kidney and lower grills on the last shot.

I stopped using Picassa for that same reason. Flickr definitely has the edge with picture quality but I just never liked their user interface so I'm not really using anything right now.

I placed the PB pics first then immediately followed by pics I have from Flkr..... this way you can easily make side-by-side comparison of the pics... (I didn't bother messing with my license plates on my Flkr pics)

Looks like PB reduces the exposure a bit. On the pictures so far in this study, Flicker does make the car seam brighter. On the other hand, if we had a blue sky with a nice cloud pattern, we may see far more detail in the sky or direct background using PB. You will also find about the same variation in different monitors or personal devices Eg.. phones/pads & tablets. Viewing browsers Ex.. Internet Exploder, Fire Fox, Safari also give about the same variation. And as for the current results, Flicker does take the win.

no one has pictures to try with imgur? I know they compress to 80 instead of 100 so it will degrade it but I am curious how much of a difference it makes.

Uploaded a couple of mine to Imgur. They seem to look good, I just don't like their interface. It's more upload and forget...definitely prefer Flickr and Dropbox for my pictures.

Yea their interface isn't the best for keeping photos around. It's just a hosting site meant for the moment. Did you upload the same picture to somewhere else to compare?

Photobucket is for quick shit you don't care about. If you're looking to archive stuff for easy sharing/viewing Flickr has and will likely always be the best place to do so.

That's what I use imgur for. I used to use imageshack but it's moved to a premium model so I found imgur to be better than photobucket.

I hate photobuckets update web layout. I use it just for the ease of uploaded stuff to the app from my phone. Flickr will always be my go to for quality photos though.
