My rear view mirrors seem lose to me. They are sturdy in place when on the road or going through rough roads/potholes. But a little knudge by the winshield protector when removing, the mirror would be out of place. As if the plastic over the ball are worn. Unlike my E39 5'er, the mirror is very well held real tight. Not a biggie, but this just bugs me. Anybody have a solution aside from mirror replacement? Thanks.

The goal is to increase the ball's diameter as it's gotten smaller for whatever reason. I would suggest possibly wedge something in there or coat the ball with something like paint to get it a little closer to factory tolerance.

Try wrapping the ball with Teflon tape...

Evidently, I need to open up the covers to the rain sensor. The ball is inside the mirror fixture. Still kinda trying to imagine on how to wrap Teflon tape around the pivoting ball when half of the ball is enclosed inside the mirror?

Along this line...are all of you guys have a very tight mirror pivot of swing all around?

I just checked mine and it seems to have pretty good pivot range in every direction.
Then I looked at my non dimming mirror that I still have lying around and I can see how it would be next to impossible to tighten that ball up...

Mine tends to shift downward in hot temperatures. It seems to stay more planted in cooler temps but being Florida, ya. I just accepted it and once a week or so, I just make a slight adjustment back up and off I go.

As on the photo, it is that wachamacalit plastic that holds the ball in place. Evidently, that thingy has the plastic fingers loosen or widen. That thing is one piece with the whole assembly.
