View Full Version : High Gloss Trim Fix?

As is expected, the high gloss trim on the outside of my ZHP has faded after ten years. Does anyone have any experience fixing this without having to order new from the stealer? I wasn't sure if a body/paint shop had the ability to paint trim in a black gloss like that.

You can definitely have it painted. Another option is gloss black vinyl wrap.

Is it just the gloss or is it stained? Many detail shops can polish that out with different compounds and pads.

I've seen a couple of them on Instagram with amazing results.

Mine are stained, going to try an wheel acid wipe as was recommended by my guys at European Detail here in Phx.

Mine are chipping. All the black is slowly chipping away. I just bought a used set over at e46F. Hoping to swap them out this weekend.

I can't remember since I don't have my ZHP anymore but they may be able to be polished out similar to how the black b pillars can be polished out

The guy didn't give any details as to what products he used, just that he had gojne over them a few times with different grade polishes and likely pads as well.

I do that with every BMW/Audi/etc. that I detail. That can be done with simply a finishing pad and some finishing polish. Very easy to correct. My thinking is the same can be done with the trim if you're careful
