Hello everyone!
Long story short I got into a car accident last week in my 2001 AW 330i and it's been deemed a total loss by the insurance. :(
On the flip side I'm getting way more money than I expected mostly due to my immaculate car care! Insurance guy said that I must've parked my cars indoors for the paint to be this good on a 13 year old car but that isn't true lol. It's been parked outdoors everyday.
I'm looking at a new car in the meanwhile and I'm 98% sure that it's going to be a ZHP.
There's a 2004 Imola Red ZHP that's somewhat near me with 100,000 miles for $12,500 that I'm going to take a look at soon.
I hope to join you guys with a ZHP soon!

Thanks guys!
Here's the last picture I took of the car dating 2 weeks ago. The final pleasure drive I had with the car was at 17-Mile Drive in Monterey.

Thanks! This seems like a good place to ask but do you guys think $12,500 is a good price for a Imola Red ZHP with 100,XXX miles? I ran it though KBB and the value listed was around $9,800 but I understand that there is some premium with a ZHP. How much more of a premium should I be expected to pay for a ZHP?
Here is the run down:
Alcantara interior
Xenon
Wheels look clean except for passenger side front - small curb rash
Both A-pillars have loose fabric
Leather steering wheel
Small ding on the roof - (looks like a door ding)
Well maintained mechanically
Paint has some swirling
Front bumper has rock chips
Tire threads are good
Front bushings recently changed
OFHG is starting to leak
I'm going to go take a look at the car this Friday! Wish me luck.

I'd pay about $10,500-11,000 for it in that condition.

ZHPs (and possibly other BMWs) tend to cost more in the bay area (because apparently we are rich tech people?), at least they did when I was looking for my ZHP. Doesn't hurt to try to talk them down, especially if the cooling system has not been replaced yet. The water pump and coolant tank are ticking time bombs at this point.

Thanks for the numbers guys. I'm actually meeting him tomorrow instead. Apparently there is another interested party that he's meeting on Friday.
I'm going to see if he'll go even less for straight cash... we shall see. :)

Welcome and good luck. I think that ZHP is worth a touch more than KBB.

Bit of an update:
The other guy saw the car and said he'd put a deposit down to pull together the money but the seller decided it wasn't worth the hassle.
The seller also got to drive another E46 and in comparison realized how great his ZHP was and is having second thoughts.
I'm completely cool with the guy keeping his car and I'm happy he actually came to realize this before it would be too late in the future.
Maybe this is a sign for me to keep searching for an Alpine white one lol. I do understand that they are pretty rare.

Welcome. I work in Mountain View, and bought my zhp a year ago.
I'd suggest to expand your search to at least neighbor states. Shipping could be a hassle, but take one way flight and drive the car back is an awesome experience.
Good luck with your hunting.

Woo!! I think I found the one. 105k miles and all the options I desire (Imola, Alc interior preferred, Xenon, 6MT)
I'm gonna arrange a PPI and if it passes with flying colors (or enough for me to drive back to CA) I'm gonna fly out to Colorado and drive it back.

this should be fun. You should take pictures of the process. the flight, the purchase, the drive, the arrival.
Just saying haha

Lol, has there been a Bay Area meet-up? That'd be sweet.
I actually saw a TiAg ZHP today in Mountain View and there's an Imola one that I've seen from time to time in Sunnyvale.

Word has it that us NorCal'ers are very bad at meeting up lol. How's the hunt going?

Yes, you are actually worse at meet ups than us in SoCal, which is really saying something.

I have a PPI set up and paid for so the owner is going to go in next week.
If all goes well I'm going to send him a deposit and fly out on the 30th or 31st to Denver and pay the remaining balance and drive back. Although I've been thinking about getting the car shipped instead.

PPI came back great. Only problems were the rear shocks are leaking + the shift shaft seal is starting to go bad.
I'm going to get the bank to draft a check and send it to the seller as a deposit. I should be heading out around end of Oct or beginning Nov to pick up the vehicle and pay it off.

what is a shift shaft? Is that something to do with the manual transmission?

Talk to Dario (Avetiso) about shipping. He maybe able to refer you to a shipping company.

Has to do with the shifter feeling loose?
