From my understanding Daniel, sedans are already pre-wired...meaning all you need to do is change out the faceplate and do some programming and bam! You have rear fogs. For coupes, you need to install the wiring, bulbs, and programming....
That's what I did for my ZHP. Botond did the programming and I now have rear fogs :)

I know LCI E46s are pre-wired but I am not 100% sure if pre-LCI are.
Also FYI, I bought one for my cousin who has aftermarket Eagle Eye tails on his 04 330i, and the foglights work on his taillights as well! :)

It's really surprising that nobody has picked this up yet. :dunno
Would I get rid of trip blink with this?

Not if you only get this for the plate and keep your current LCM.

^ correct, if you already have LCM v4+, you can add this to get rear fogs.

Going based on your signature, neither of your cars have 4.0 or later.
Stock, only the very late 05 build and 06 cars got the "desired" software version. That means only the very last coupes and convertibles.

Yes, or PA Soft or it's written on the module.

Yep, so unless you upgraded it, no. Again that is for triple blink. This faceplate is independent and is for euro rear fog lights.

Under the trim there's two Phillips screws holding the LCM in. You can then slide it out without disconnecting it and see the sticker on top that tells the SW version.

noob alert.
what is the 3.11 you mention?
and looking at the switch the difference is the addition of the rear fog (bottom R) and auto leveler knob on the top right? But don't our xenon headlights auto adjust anyway? I believe mine do as they move around when I start the car.

You are right. Euro E46s with the headlight leveler is non-xenon switches. I do not know what is required to make the headlight level switch to work but the main reason to buy this switch is for the rear foglight button. The faceplate is swappable to your existing lightswitch to prevent the tamper dot in the cluster.
I have a sale pending on this but I do have another one without auto..

The headlight level dial works out of the box with auto-leveling xenons. It bypasses the auto-leveling I believe (I only tested it in my driveway, on my car).

Did not know that. Does it still self-level with a new static location?

Yes. The switch just bypasses whatever setting the auto chose! Never tried it while rolling though.
