I purchased this car ~ a year ago (see original thread HERE (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=986263&highlight=)).
I rear ended someone last week. The car can still start fine though obviously shouldnt be driven since all/most of the coolant has leaked out. This is a great deal for someone who has the time to fix the car up themself (I do not...). Needs new hood, bumper, headlight housings (all HID components, bulb/ballast/ignitor appear fine), radiator, fan, shrouds, condensor. No unibody/engine damage. Neither of the front fenders is damaged or mis-aligned. Car is in Queens, NY. See more damaged pics -- here (https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dropbox.com%2Fsc%2Ftu7etoj i9rhyjva%2FAABzwD1kenVLsBV56xhjGn0ea&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNFYug1c5kWadtMM5GG4Jx8EGoH03g)

Title is clean or salvage?
Prior to the accident?...definitly clean. They will probably be totaling it now though, since they are estimating using bizzare prices (ex new headlight assembly $1800) when we all know you can find OEM stuff on ebay/forums for 1/10th of that...

Wow this is very tempting for a handy guy like me. Too bad shipping it would be like 1k.
How bout you fly me there and I'll put her back together fo you. Charge you 40 an hour instead of the dealer or indy prices. :)

Is there any way of getting around it receiving a salvage title? If so, I'd buy it. My parents live in NJ... :)
What about $3k? lol
Need a truck and trailer.

UPDATE --
The car will NOT get a salvage title, since it is over 8 years old. Nothing happens to the title at all, and it stays in my name, it does not get transferred to the insurance company or anything. However, I do have a sale pending at the moment. I will keep yall updated.

Shoot. Never saw this. If it was west coast I'd have fixed it but shipping makes it not really worth it to me.

If you get to the point of junking it...would you pull the seats/door panels. I'll pay whatever for the shipping, I don't care.

In discussions with my wife about whether she will allow me to do this.
Here's a question for you guys - If I'm getting a new hood and front bumper painted anyway, it would probably cost an extra 800 or 1000 above that to get the whole car painted. AW or black would likely sell better.
Would a fresh respray bring up the curb appeal enough to pay for it? i.e. better color + fresh paint?
I would keep the car the same color IMO.
The OP just needs to do a part-out. I would be interested in some parts from the car.

Not sure you'd get a quality job for ~$1k or that it would ad any value.
