I have a warranty from the dealer i got the car from. He said he will replace them for free. I dono how this would work. Wat about the stock struts? Any idea?

Check realoem.com. For my 2004 sedan it shows different strut part #s for cars with sport suspension.

In that case I can find only sport suspension for the front. Are the rear struts of a ZHP same as the normal 330i?

Our shocks are supplied by Sachs. They have two kinds. Take this with a grain of salt but I have read that later e46s came with Sachs Super Touring shocks from the factory, which is their basic shock. Early E46s came with Sachs Advantage, which is their "upgraded" shock. You can find the part numbers in the catalog in that link. I was going to give the Advantage shocks a try when I changed mine rather than use the Super Touring. I believe the part numbers are:

Sachs Advantage front shocks 556-873/576-874 (Left/right)
Sachs advantage rear struts 556-884

I'm planning to buy the shocks from bavauto.com so they have two different front shocks for 2004 e46. They have a one for sports package and another one for normal package. The rear, there is only one kind. So is fine to buy the two front shocks of the sports type and the normal rear ones?

Make sure they replace with OEM if they'll do it.

If going aftermarket, personally I'd go with Bilstein Sports. They carry a lifetime warranty last I checked.

How abt Sachs, which are the OEM parts except the one that comes from BMW has more than a $100 mark up on it. And with regards to Koni and Bilstein do i need to make any modification to accommodate them?
