Hey there. I'm Drew. Marine for 13 years, Pennsylvania native currently transplanted in the DC and North Carolina areas via our lovely government.

I purchased my 2005 330CI ZHP about a month ago, and recently found out about this site through the previous owner. The car just hit 130,000 miles this 4th of July weekend.

After buying it, I immediately replaced the VANOS, water pump, and water pump pulley, just for preventative measures (everything turned out to be stock; VANOS bad, water pump in poor condition, and water pump pulley in need of repair as well.) Glad I did it, and it was quite simple.

I'm a former diesel guy (Cummins), so this is a big change and really having fun with the new whip.

I have put 3,000 miles on it in a month and have noticed I burn about 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles or so. I do not see any visible leaks nor does smoke appear from the tailpipe. I have seen multiple posts about replacing the CCV, as this may be a causing factor. Any help would be appreciated.

I look forward to coming to this site often to gain knowledge and see all your awesome cars. Nice to meet everyone!

Drew

Welcome, Drew! And thank you for your service.

If your CCV hasn't been replaced yet, I'd start there for oil loss. Another difficult to spot leak is the oil filter housing gasket, unless you know where to look for it.

Welcome, Drew ! You will like this forum. I replaced the valve cover gasket and oil filter housing when my e46 had 145,000 miles. That stopped an oil leak. But, your case is different because you don't have anything visible. Probably you can try the CCV first.

Yeah, this is quite possible. My car is nothing special. Just a stocker with an intake. Haha....

Welcome aboard, Marine. FWIW, I am still a boot here, so I add no value. Hell, I don't even own a ZHP, so I guess that would make me a pog.

I was brought here by some guy named Botand, but it seems like no one likes him here, so I got that going for me.

Though, I do have a Marine friend in NC and will hopefully be hanging out with him down there this fall.

Enjoy!

Haha, POG, I don't hear that one enough. And let me know if you'll be by Camp Lejeune. I'm here for another few weeks. Still trying to figure this forum sh*t out...

Welcome Drew and thank you for your service. I'm located in the NVA area and work right outside of Quantico, you've probably ridden in one of my company's trucks (7-ton, LVSR, MATV). I've been known to host a maintenance day or two which may or may not feature some barley sandwiches, feel free to stop by for one of them or any time once you get to the DC area.

We will likely miss each other. My friend is TAD now and I won't be down there until this fall, when he's done. Appreciate the invite, however.

Nice ride, looks good!

Thanks a lot. I would say I got pretty lucky. It's in pretty good shape for being almost 10. Little things here and there id like to fix to make it as "perfect" as can be.
