Hey guys! I've noted some amazing photographers on this site and figured I'd try my hand at contributing :) This will be my little thread where I post my non-zhp pictures just for fun and feedback (also so I don't clog the Picture of the day thread :p) Hope you all enjoy! I know camera's fairly well and I know Photoshop very well so if anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

*disclaimer: no guarantee on the frequency of my posts here, photography is a passion of mine that comes and goes with my artistic motivation.

Very nice shoots. Do you have to use a tripod when shooting HDR?

You don't have to, but because HDR is essentially a combination of multiple images at different exposure levels, everything needs to line up and a tripod ensures this. I use a tripod as often as I can, no matter what type of shot im taking.

What do you shoot with?
I use a Canon 60D with and Ef-S 18-200 Canon Lens (not the best lens but nice ones cost sooooooo much money)

Hey guys! Giving this a bit of a bump with some shots from a recent drive to the top of Mt. Tam. I am in a bit of an HDR phase but there is a fine line between epic dynamic range and a cheap "over edited" look - a line which I try not to cross. That being said I do tend to lean toward the surrealistic side of things.. anyways, feedback of all kinds is always welcome! :)

Very cool. Little too much contrast for my tastes, but like you said you are going for a surrealistic look.

Maybe that's why I love it; I'm a contrast whore. :rofl

Thanks guys! I always struggle a bit with mixing vibrance and contrast.. Especially when working in HDR

Beautiful photos!!! I need to shoot personal work again, all I do now a days is paid gigs (weddings).
Not long ago I picked up some nice film cameras, that was fun... I need to shoot more film.

I spent a couple months with a film camera and dark room at my disposal. It is extremely rewarding when you get the result you are aiming for!

Nope, it really just depends on what I feel like at the given time. I like to shoot low key, surealism, anything at night and my car of course... When it's clean. Although I tend to be most pleased with my landscapes.

I went up to Lake Tahoe last weekend for my moms wedding. Decided to take Highway 50 up....at night... alone in my ZHP...chasing a WRX STI (who was also having a blast on the roads).. man, what a fun drive! Anyways, here is a quicky from last weekend :)

I also attempted to shoot star trails for the fist time, I am very pleased with the results, but I think next time I will go with a longer exposure to eliminate the "dotishness" of the trails. I loved doing this, more of this to come!

Any updates/recent shots for us Otter?

I had an entire memory card full and I accidentally deleted it all :crying

These will have to do- although not recent shots, they are some of the decent ones from the past year :

I've been wanting to do star trails for a while now! Been so busy lately though. Can't wait for this semester to end, then maybe I can play with my camera!

If you have an iPhone check out the app called Photopills. It'll help with that and sun/moon phases and such

Everything was shot in manual mode on the kit lens (18-200 F3.4).

Thanks for the tip on the app. Absolutely epic, I have been looking for something like it for a while. It will definitely come in handy!

This is my entry for the Coby Wheel Fall Competition. (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?14268-ZHPMafia-Photo-Contest-Sponsored-by-CobyWheel-Fall-Themed&highlight=fall+photo)

I recently switched from Imgur to Flickr and this is a test post so I can figure out the proper sizing and compare the two back to back :)
