I find it funny how all Interlagos Blue M3's seem to carry a 5-10k premium over any other M3.
And by that, I mean, 5-10k premium in asking price. Actual sale will probably be a lot less than that.

ehhhhh, people just tend to be high on their own shit. LSB was like that forever too.

Lol. So rude. I wonder how old that gas is considering only 9100 miles over 10 years

Carbon black over gray, nicely optioned, 6MT. 131k miles, though. And it's not 2003.5, but it has LED tails which I am assuming are aftermarket.

Grey. =\
On top of that... Black... My only beef with black is that it's impossible to keep clean. Otherwise Carbon Black is beautiful.

But that grey... I'd two tone the sheeeeet out of that interior.

I could swap it out easily if a decent interior popped up for sale. Other than that, I could live with it.

Finally saw the pics. Guy must be short and has bad taste with the ///M emblems on the speakers. My car had an ///M3 trunk emblem on the passenger dash trim lol. It also still has one in the trunk on the speaker below the rear deck. $16k is overpriced, but you knew that.

I hope to see that car this weekend!

There is a dealer advertising a 2003 silver M3 (6-speed) in Walnut Creek on Craiglist. Has 138K miles asking $16,998. Not sure if dealers are willing to negotiate more on price or if they always charge more than FSBO deals.

If I can see it tomorrow or Sunday, do you want any specific pictures or information about it? I probably won't be making any buying decisions this weekend. I still have to finalize my insurance claim and decide if I want to buy back my ZHP. If I buy it back, I won't be buying an M3 this year (but maybe next year...).

Okay. Shall I tell him I'm evaluating it for you too? :-) I have a body shop guy coming at 3pm to look at my car today. If he says my car is fixable for a reasonable price, my hunt for another E46 will go on hold.

BTW, did you check out the white 2005 E46 for sale in the Sacramento area for $16,000, the one changed from black to white? This one:

Please let me know if you do, unless you buy it! I like white better than black, but color change from black to white worries me, unless they did it really well. I guess I'd look for overspray, color inside the door frames, color around trunk lid edges and hood lid edges.

Yea I was f'n around. I really dislike dark color wheels. They tend to get lost in the mix and don't look very good in my eyes. Even my hyper black wheels that came with the car bug me from time to time. Otherwise they fit the theme of tiag and CF fairly well.

My buddy called my car riced the other day and I was scratching my head.

Saw the silver one in Los Gatos. Looks good and sounds good. He's selling it to get an E36 M3 track car. I know the seller's dad from BMW CCA stuff, in fact his Dad gave my nephew a ride around Laguna Seca in a Mini Cooper back in May. Said he was waiting for Dario to call him! Will PM you details later.

Edit: Apex wheels are ET30. Fenders rolled. Brand new rear tires today. Springs are H&3 Sport. Dampers original, or at least not changed by current owne (rear shocks are Sachs). Rear subframe bushings stock and floor pan recently inspected and okay. Spacers are H&R. Previously owned 3 years by family friend of seller. No spare instead BMW mobility kit. Has original exhaust at home. Dual fan (clutch and electric pusher--is that normal for all M3 MT?). Fold-down rear seats. FCABs are Powerflex purple. Swaybars stock. Two small dings on rear quarters, one per side; right ding has paint scratch, left does not. Last lifter adjustment about 20K miles ago. Paint looked good to me --8/10 except 2 dings and some front bumper rash, but I'm not picky on paint.

Exhaust sounds good, only slightly lor than stock, but didn't get into highest RPMs on test drive. Forgot to ask about tune (probably OEM).

Would - buy? Yes if I'm getting a M3, though I would probably switch to coilovers for stiffer springs and do wheel studs.

Texted this guy. His car has been FS for a while, and while I am not usually a fan of black, I love it on the M3, apparently. I'd definitely be willing to deal with it for how clean it looks when... clean?

Not sure if standards are slipping, or I am warming up to the idea of SMG. I drove my cousin's manual 330i recently and honestly, it's been nice to be driving auto recently. At least not having to operate a clutch.

Dario, I met with a former coworker who is getting ready to sell his E46 M3. It's 2004, 6MT, Silbergrau, about 90,000 miles. In good shape, not many mods except wheel studs and front struts are Bilstein. I think he's asking for a little less than Jason is, but it has stock exhaust, intake, springs, etc. If you're interested, let me know and I'll PM you his email address.

PM sent! I think it's a fine car but why that one and not Jason's? They are the same color, no wait, the Jason car in Los Gatos one is TitanSilber on black leather, while the one I saw Sunday is SilberGrau on black leather and has fewer miles on it. The first has the custom Magnaflow exhaust, H&R lowering springs (on stock dampers), and aFe intake with 18x9.5" wheels on the car--don't remember if Jason has the stock wheels at home. The 2nd one has stock exhaust, stock springs on Bilstein dampers, stock intake, and stock wheels in the car but also 18x10" wheels for sale.

The first seller decided it's too nice to track, never tracked it (not sure about previous owner) and wants to get an E36 M3. The 2nd seller has already tracked it, already switched to a dedicated track Miata, and is now thinking of getting something else for the track.

First seller is the son of a BMW CCA instructor. Second seller is a NASA/Speed Ventures instructor.

And I thought you wanted LSB! :-)

I have a huge thing for SilverGray. My first ZHP was that color and I love it to this day. I like Jason's car, and I've complimented him on multiple times. I'm just less of a fan of that shade of gray than silver gray, it's not a 2003.5+, and I'd like to have less miles on my car to help with resale down the road.

I did want that LSB one! But it sold today. Was barely on CL for over 24 hours, but that's what I expected. There was nothing I could do.

Shot him an email already.

Hey John, all M3's do not have the spare tire and instead they have to mobility kit. I think it is because of the cutout for the rear exhaust

Jordan, yes I just figured that out on Sunday! I also learned on the S54 the power steering and windshield wiper fluid reservoirs are buried lower in the engine bay, they all seem to have clutch fans (+ electric pusher fan), and the coolant ET is over on the passenger side not the driver's side.

Dario,
'06 M3 silver gray, vert, 6MT, gray interior, immaculate, 51K, 2-owner car, not listed for sale yet cause he's trying to get me to buy it. Admit I'm tempted but not in the cards right now. I bought my 1st ZHP from this guy & then Preston's 335 back in March, he is OCD beyond me, his stuff is righteous. On that 1st ZHP I bought from him, drove it 9-10 months/10K miles, my son's friend jackknifed open the side of it cause he didn't know how to back out of my driveway, and we still sold it for only $500 less than we bought it. The 335, we're still positive on that deal, probably will be for another year. Know you said no verts, but this is your color, your tranny, car was 3M protected when new on the front & lower sides, outstanding condition. Been driven 4K miles in last 2 years, she's a back up to his 2013 M3 which replaced his 2011 M3, which both sat while he had another DD. PM me if you have any interest.

I found a lot of sellers prefer an actual phone call instead of a text. It kind of places that potential buyer "higher" on their list, mentally... if you find a car you really want, might be worth a shot to call first. :thumbsup

"Come check the car out if you want." WTF? I'm 400 miles away, dude. Can you send me some better pictures that show the details better?

Here, bro, check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnHQ6P6tmhk

Also says he is extremely busy, which is why he didn't respond. You don't have time to sell the car you listed for sale? :dunno

You aren't exactly a typical owner, Chuck! :) I know you love your ZHP. I loved mine.

But you can't ignore the signs. Over 10+ people have switched from their ZHP's this year on the boards. Many to the E46 M. Some to other cars. A few people have wrecked their cars and might not be replacing it with a ZHP.

I'm sure the ZHP has a place in all of our hearts and always will, but we are seeing more people leave than come. That's only to be expected. Keep the name for all I care, but this forum is becoming more general-BMW than it is ZHP-specific. And that's cool with me.

M3's only got the strut bar mid-2002. Still that car isn't for me; not even looking at it.

As far as the other car, the guy explained to me how that happened. PO bought it in SoCal and took it to work with him in CO. Current owner then traded cars with this guy and he never retitled it in CA. He's only had the car for 3 months. I've talked to him twice already and he seems like a good person. If you're going to chose SMG just make sure you have budgeted around $1500 to swap it to 6MT when something $$$ goes on the system. Anytime anything big needs to be done on mine, I'm swapping it and hiring my friend who has done the swap a few times on E46M's. He said he can do it for $1300.

Because of the cost, I didn't let transmission be my deciding factor. It maybe different for you if it's your only car though and you can't afford to have it down and out for a few days.

I have bimmerbrakes V1 headers, from research, much easier to install. But you can get great gains from either. The V3 supposedly give better gains, but I think it's a sales tactic. It's all subject to preference

Headers with the stock catback is plenty loud, but with the windows up, you notice zero difference in sound. It makes the car sound a little more "tinny" and definitely adds rasp, which I actually like to hear from it

How'd it go?
Thought I had already posted it. Weird.

Anyways, waste of time. Car has been repainted fully, and the paint job was not very good. Even my mom noticed it looked bad. The car seemed to be fine mechanically from what I could tell, outside of some whirring noise from the rear left which was either rubber noise or a wheel hub. Felt like the steering felt a bit weird, too. Almost grainy... it's hard to explain. Maybe it was in my head. No red flags mechanically from what I could tell, outside of the fact that it wouldn't pass smog because the ECU was erased. I'm guessing he was trying to hide a code or something.

Interior was pretty darn clean, though. SMG shifted nice and smooth. However, for the price, I wouldn't want that car. If it was $13,000, hell, I'd get it repainted. But at this price it isn't even worth considering. Guy was pretty bummed out, too. Seemed like he was stressed.

Anyways, just gonna know when to say no and walk away. That's the most important part. I'm just worried someone else will get suckered into that car, but I can't do anything about it.

It's an interesting variant, to say the least. No HK stereo (win), no heated seats, no xenons, but it has PDC, sunroof, and electric seats. Weird car. It'd make it that much easier to build a stereo, though.

^^ No heated seats... doesn't it get chilly up there at times? That might drag you down a bit, but... depending on your tolerance for cold leather seats, probably isn't a deal breaker. Looks promising to say the least. The price is up there though considering the lack of the "important" options such as heated seats and Xenons, both of which I personally couldn't live without. lol

Seems like you're OK with that though, so looks promising. If anything you could use the lack of these "important" features to negotiate the price...

Nah, it hardly gets cold here in Sacramento. Last winter, the worst we had was some dry colds down in the high twenties and low thirties. As for the xenons, I'd just retrofit some lights in. Would be less complicated than the OEM xenon system and I can make the output better.

Assuming price works. No way in hell I'm paying them 17k.

Yeah the stock 3.62 ratio is already high revving enough compared to the ZHP's 3.07. The only reason I'd need a more aggressive ratios is to beat Mustang Cobra's once in third gear! Don't ask me how I know...LOL. Or when you race and at certain corners you need higher RPM so when you downshift you're in a better power band.

Entire rear bumper was fading, peeling clear on top of car on the rails (typical, but still), seat doesn't move, interior is heavily worn, and that dealer is full of it.

I set up and appt. to see the car with them, I get there, and they tell me it's not ready? Why has it been FS on CL if it's not ready?

I could fly out and check on cars if timing lined up with my free time. I have special unlimited jet access around North America so I just book a flight plan and within 2 hours I jump on a plane. If you find something that you're super serious on I could probably take a day out of my schedule to check it out. Just have to arrange transportation from the destination airport to see the car and make sure the car you are interested in is fully ready to be checked out. Just let me know in PM.

I think if I were in a similar position, I would do everything in my power to assure the current owner that the car would be going to a good home - to a new owner who will care for it and maintain it to perfect standards. Personally, I just feel that if I was terminally ill and had sell my baby, I would much much rather loose money and rest easy knowing that my car lives on in the hands of a true enthusiast as opposed to getting my asking price and selling the car to some d-bag. Thats just imho though.. :dunno

This is the process it takes some of us to reach our goal. I believe there is always a reason for everything to happen to us. Whether it's to teach you patience or to strengthen you faith just a bit more. This is a numbers game and logically you and I know that there are good cars out there. We just may need to lift up every dirty mat to find that gem. Keep on trucking. The awesome part of this journey is that you're not alone.

Finding my car took three months and a practice of my faith and to drive a minivan for those months. LOL. It just makes owning this car I have now that much more special. And coming home tonight on a 12AM to 2AM drive makes that pain worth it and you end up not even feeling that past struggle. Everything is on the up in your court. Enjoy that journey harder said than done. LOL

All I can say Dario is that my ///M was no where near what it is when I purchased it. I made the mistake of not waiting for "my" perfect ///M (Interlagos Blue/Black or Silver Grey/Black). I drove this car and allowed my emotions to take over and the next thing I knew, I was the third owner (wasn't even looking to buy an M3 at the time)...:) My ///M had the factory grey interior, which I found way too plain and ugly for my tastes... My M3 became my project car where I decided I was going to "build" it into the car I really wanted. So far, I'm on the right track and can honestly say that the car I now have is not the car I started out with. Of course I have poured some money into my ///M and it shows.

Depends on what you're planning to do. Are you planning to keep the M3 for the long haul or are you planning to keep the M3 just for a short time period before flipping it to make some extra cash and move to another car? It is obvious that in my case, I'm keeping my M3 for the long haul :) Anyway, the point is there are plenty of cars out there.....depends on what your short term and long term goals are for this car. Best of luck my friend on your search :thumbsup
