View Full Version : Wheel and tire. What can I get away with?

Hey it's about time for some new rims and tires. As you know I'm lowered quite a bit and haven't gotten my fenders rolled yet. Waiting to get that gunk out from the liner. If like to know what size you think I could get away with for an aggressive stance without rubbing. I would like to get 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear. Is that possible or do I need to reconsider? Also what offset would I be looking for? Attached is a picture of how low the car sits now. I would also like to stretch the tires a little, nothing crazy just enough to prevent rubbing and look good. So if you have a tire size that might help me also I'd appreciate it. I'm not very good with wheel and tire size or offset... :/ 14457

Also these pictures are before the Coilovers settled completely so it's a tad lower now.

Do you have a better picture of those ? Those look nice. Although I'm not sure how they'd look on a coupe

You can use a calculator online to see if your new wheels will fit
http://www.willtheyfit.com/

Alot of people run a square set-up when replacing wheels. A popular choice is Apex Wheels http://www.apexraceparts.com/

I had Apex 18x9 ET42, no rubbing at all. You could go 265 square with those wheels. If you want, you could go narrower in the front with an 8.5 and run 255 or 245, but I'd just go square. 265 square is a lot of rubber, though, so expect heavier steering (which is a pro to me, IMO). You may or may not need a roll with that setup.

Apex has a few wheel styles out there that you may like besides the ARC8, which is what I had and many others do. You can give Miro a look, too.

Recommended staggered is:
Fronts- 18x8.5 ET35
Rear- 18x9.5 ET45
Tires 235/245's up front and 245/255 in the rear.

So with 8.5 front and 9.5 rear, on a lowered car what should I do for offset? Would et45 be the best fit? I'm looking to pull the trigger today. Looking like 18's VMR 705 gunmetal

those should look pretty sweet in silver.

18x8.5 ET35/18x9.5 ET45 will fit perfectly, with 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 tires

Yeah it's a tossup between silver and gunmetal. I like how both look14485

if i was you i would go with silver only because your car is a darker grey. That way your wheels stand out more. But what do i know lol :shifty

Has anyone put 18x10 on the zhp? Can it fit with rolled fenders? Probably an et40

I'm throwing some 18x10 et40 BBS CH's on this coming weekend, then coilovers are coming in about two weeks time.

How much do you think those are going to stick out?

Not too much, I'm probably gonna have to dial in the camber some as it's gonna be lowered. I'm not gonna slam it but gonna lower it enough to eliminate any wheel gap. And I'm running a 255 in the rear so there'll be some stretch as well. I'd like to go to 265 but I think it'll rub too much and be too much of a hassle.

Sorry to thread jack, but when I go get an alignment, do I just go with OEM specs or should I find my own because the car will be lowered and on wider wheels?

Fronts will be fine, rears will rub. I run 18x8.5" ET 35 all around.. Your front wheel placement will be roughly the same as mine, and I don't rub. Will be aggressive though, as mine are. Rears will rub as it is equivalent to my wheels with 11mm spacer. I rubbed pretty hard with a 10mm spacer, on stock rear springs. I'm rolled and trimmed in back too. About as tight as I could without stretching. Good luck.

I had 18x9 ET42 and I did not rub but it was damn close. Pretty sure you'll rub in the rear even with a roll.

I just bought 245 35 potenzas for the rear so there will be a stretch. My fenders are already rolled and I don't rub with 12mm spacers on right now. So you think the 18x9 et30 will be too much in the rear? I can also raise the rear end a little if need be

This is as low as she can get. So with an 18x9 et30 would I be screwed?

no, i can still go down about .5" in the rear and like another 1" up front. but i already scratch everywhere.

if i'm not mistaken i'm running 18x8.5 & 18x9.5 rear

if i'm not mistaken 37/33. so nothing crazy. They don't poke out. The inner wheel in the rear comes really close from actually rubbing. The tire shop didn't want to install them because he said it would rub. I went home and installed them and had no such issue. I'm running thin tires 235/40/18 rear and was running 215/35/18 for a while but hard to come by, so have 225/40/18 fronts now.

Lmao Dane that actually made me laugh. Past 45 mins I've been huffin and puffin because I started to wax my car when all of a sudden every bug species decided to land on my still wet wax. That actually made me a laugh though... Thank you
