Hey fellas, Dane Wilson has graciously been helping me find an E46, specifically a ZHP. I'm on a relatively tight budget (paying cash, don't want a payment!) but we've found some cool ones.
I can't wait to join in your fun.
If I end up with one (I'm coming from a nice E39 v8 six speed), I'll probably just do KW's tires brakes and enjoy the mountain roads for skiing and the occasional track day. Though I've got lots of very fast cars at my disposal so I'm looking for something more comfy and soft for a daily driver. Of course, it has to have three pedals and make a decent sound. :-)
Thanks for having me!

$10k...but I think he said he would go up to $12k for a zhp....

Shit bro......that has the rear sun shade. WTF? Thats awesome!
What I see is $200.00 for the wheel rewrap or $60 for a wheelskinz. Some light front bumper chips. Looks like gas mileage is good....so motor should be running decent...
I also see a lil right/rear 1/4 panel issue.
Interior needs TLC.....not much $$$ here.
I think for $11k (after repairs)....this would be a dynamite car.....if you offered $9k....
I think if you had to pay $10k for the car...with total investesment being $12k...it would still be a good deal.
What do the rest of you think.

I like it. And if you need a PPI, Ian, I am sure I can find someone I trust in SoCal. The guy is in Pasadena. We should have you covered for a solid PPI.

There's money to be made on cars that have a few issues that the original owner doesn't want to bother with.
BTW, your user name reminds of the late, great Billy Mays.

Guys,
Thank you very much for the warm reception!
I'm hoping to look at that white ZHP soon.
You guys won't make me walk the plank if I end up with a 330 5sp will you? I'd do bolt ons, kw's, and I guess and auto gear to liven things up a bit.
I'll probably be making some fun little ods and ends for whatever car I end up with.
So it seems pretty common that the a-pillars and other interior trim likes to basically fall off. What is teh best way to fix it?

I've never had any trim pieces fall off or even rattle.

Yeah, my A-pillar trim is starting to bunch a little at the bottom.

Ian, we don't care if you own a ZHP or a 318. We're a BMW enthusiast site here. We specialize in ZHPs but we welcome all BMW enthusiasts.
Our only requirement is that members be professional, courteous, helpful, and respectful. If that's what you're looking for too, you've found the right forum.

Of course, in my old age of 27 I enjoy being around great quality people!
How many so-cal-ers are on this site?
The a-pillar trim bunching is exactly what I've seen in so many E463's I've been looking at. Additionally, I see some wear around the seat belt hangers on the b pillar area.
Not a big deal.

I love nice rack.
welcome :) my name's Ian too...
the AW ZHP looked way worse in the bad pics, but the picasa pics look great. just a few scrapes and bruises..nothing major really. So the wheel was re-wrapped? The last 2 pics are a tri-stitched wheel. That's good :cool

Well, that didn't take long. We settled on a fair price The car was exactly as described; front bumper could use paint, right rear quarter panel has very minor damage, one wheel has about two inches of being curbed. Interior is really, really in great shape.
Engine feels strong, definitely down on power from my 540i6, but good gearing and a higher redline mitigate that to an extent. It has an OEM BMW E46M wheel. The trans and clutch feel great. The throws are much lighter than the 540 six speed.
The nav, stereo, heated seats, and rear sunshade all work perfectly. I wouldn't argue if the driver's side window went up a little faster. Maybe my 540 window motor is the same, I just bought a brand new OEM one haha!
Thanks again for the help fellas. I'm going to start on the cooling system/brakes/tires soon! I'll post a build thread when I figure out the correct section.

Ian, great news that you found the car you were looking for.
As for a meet, we're going to have one as soon as Terry takes delivery of his S54/ZHP (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?1066-New-member-owner-Orange-County-CA-2003-Imola-Red-Rogue-ZHP). We're hoping it gets delivered today. That means a meet in Irvine -- at Spectrum -- within the next two weeks. See the Southwest regional forum for details.
Also, be sure to create a projects page (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?48-Projects) for your ride as you're replacing, modding, and improving the Stormtrooper.

Ian,
we are more than happy for you here and your new car. if your excitement is anything to mine when i got my car, then we will all be good friends quickly! as Marcus said, the meet we are projecting for about a week or two from now just because this coming weekend is scheduled to rain but who knows if that is true. the weather reports have been consistent with what actually happens. other than that, i welcome you to hit us up anytime to kick it or meet and chat or whatever. please post your info in the Southwest regional thread so i can add your information to the roll call list! thanks man and welcome again!

Hey guys, thank you all for the warm welcome. I've been a part of many different communities and am overwhelmed by the warmth of the ZHP group! I'll hit up that meet thread.
I foresee having to do many "errands" at work, today!
