What's the car in the second to last photo? Such a timeless design! I can make out the Lotus emblem but that's it..

Wow, a flashback, 3rd pic in 1st series, a 1972 or 1973 Renault R17 Gordini (starting in 1974 they had big ugly front bumpers). I had a 1972 that was butt ugly orange with a blown head gasket that I picked up for $250 as my 2nd car. (My uncle had a 1973, same color as the above pic with black interior, my brother had a 1974 that was fluorescent green/black.). Pulled the engine from the car and carried it into the basement, set it up in the basement on my dad's workbench and then learned how to rebuild an engine. 1.6L hemi head motor, fuel injected, closed cooling system, think in stock form it made about 80-100hp, did some tricks to bump that up a bit.

BCS, when I saw that Renault it was taken back to when I was young and living in england, my friends father had one and we loved to go for rides in it, but man those bumpers were ugly.

And 3 lug wheels, absolutely no aftermarket to get wider wheels, and plus it was when Renault was starting to pull out of the US but AMC bought the rights to sell them - remember the horrible Alliance & Fuego (AMC parts guys didn't know what an R17 was). Custom exhaust we did, port matched it, slight larger valves, milled the head, my uncle used to race with Renault engines so we had access to a cheap supply of parts (extra parts from his racing days in his garage & basement) and he knew all kinds of tricks to tweak a bit more power out of that little engine. A great learning experience for me.

I was still in England at that time, but remember going to Jersey in the summer and my sisters friend had that horrible Fuego, terrible car. My dad owned a Renault 5 with that fun shifter in the dash board. He loved it, but that car was something else.
