Tuning opinions Eurocharge vs Shark

I have been reading the forums trying to figure out which is the better route to take in terms of a tune to help with the 4k dip. Looks like it has been swaying towards a Eurocharge tune over the Shark tune. Is this correct?

I don't have a local Eurocharge dealer so I would have to send my DME out to Houston. Also to note, I will be adding an AFE intake and a Magnaflow cat back exhaust to an otherwise stock motor.

Another option would be the Dinan stage 1 software. It fixed my dip and improved the throttle response. This way you wouldn't have to send your DME in.

I'd go with Eurocharged. Why?

1. They are supported and support this site.

2. Fully customizeable programming according to the mods you have on your car. Shark is not.

3. Hand held programmer is available so YOU can update the maps as well, or store certain maps.

Obviously I'm biased and have already spoken to the OP about tuning. Would love you're business (even though I make nothing on these tunes but just do it to help out the mafia and EC) but as I told him - the handheld is a pricey option for convenience.

Objectively speaking if your primary goal is help on the 4k dip - get your disa reprogrammed first then tune the dme. If you want more power conveniently the shark after the disa reprogramming is probably the best option since you're not in an area to get the EC tune. However if you ever see yourself upgrading anything more past intake and catback on the car the EC option that gives you lifetime retuning at no cost is a pretty sweet deal. And if you don't mind making the investment on the handheld you can do it all from your own driveway anytime you add something to the car.

Hey Seth, what do you mean be getting the DISA reprogrammed? I've had my DME flashed by an indy shop and it helped with some bucking I had at 2800 RPMs.

Pretty sure he meant DME re-programmed. BTW, Eurocharged did have a Mafia price, not sure if that is still applicable.

I've been quite happy with my Shark Injector but am pretty sure a Eurocharged tune would have given me a little more power. Also while the Shark is advertised as being field programmable via USB port, I have not heard of any updated programs or tunes for the E46 non-M. (They do have at least 2 different programs for E46 non-M.) I think for E46 M3 they have a special tune for those without headers.
