My father lives there. Too bad he's in HI without me :-/

I also think he's happy with his 323 vert.

That ... is a tempting looking car.

Only problem is, when I plug the VIN # that shows in the ad's pictures into several BMW VIN decoders, the vehicle info comes back, very, very screwy.

As in 'automatisch" "Orientblau"

Weird.

[edit] Ah, wrong VIN in the ad is the reason. The autocheck on the website has the right one.

I'm local to the area, I live about 5 miles away. This dealer, like most, should be treated with a skeptic's eye. If anyone is really serious about this car let me know. I will gladly test drive it. :)

Checked the free AutoCheck ... came back clean, but no detailed maintenance records.

Paid for the CarFax ... clean title ... one owner ... but, still no maintenance details.

Grrrr.

There is only one response that jumps to mind:

(Mostly concerned with the details of the exterior and interior ... obviously, though, as an owner of a 2003 330i ZHP (I'm assuming, from your SIG), your impressions of the drive/mechanical qualities are greatly appreciated, but I will be getting a thorough (i.e. crawl through up the tail-pipe and out the intake) 3PI inspection, so I am in no way laying that upon you)

[edit] If you have a local BMW indy that you use or know and would recommend for the 3PI, that would be greatly appreciated ...

Just want to know your thoughts on whether you think it's worth the flight + rental from the O.C. to bring her home.

alea iacta est

[edit 2] plus, if they have any evidence for the claim they state of "fully serviced" and what that entails.

I am the original owner of a same model/year sedan, I think a walk around a drive would tell me a lot but I am no mechanic. For service, I have used two local dealers and three different indi BMW shops and the best/most honest in my experience is

http://www.caseymotorsports.com/

He's in Petaluma which is about a 15 minute drive from this cars location.

I would stay clear of the dealer's shop "GS Tuning".

Message me if you would like me to check it out, I may have time today or this weekend.

edit: I will ask for any service records.
