ZHP Mafia - posting this announcement/invite here first so you have first shot at signing up for some rack time for those one hour DIY projects. I told David I'd post it on another BMW forum too, so call his shop early to reserve some lift time if you need it.


What: BMW Meet-Up, BBQ & Open House @ Green Motorsport
Where: 8432 Alban Rd, Springfield, VA 22150, (703) 229-1313
When: Saturday, 31 May 2014, 10 am to 3 pm
Who: BMW enthusiasts, all series & years

My Indy (David Green) & I were talking, talking about various local car meets but he's usually running his shop so never has time to attend one. Thus, he offered to host a BMW meet at his place with him, renowned BBQ vendor (Oscar's) will be on-site cooking his famous BBQ.

- front parking lot will hold about 40-50 cars, back parking lot will hold 100+, come hang out
- he'll offer use of one of his lifts for DIY-ers, limited to one hour per person, call to sign up:
+ bring your own parts/fluids & tools or call to order parts via them
+ what are you planning to do, do you need guidance from one of his mechanics
- he's a Liqui Moly facility, the Liqui Moly rep will be on hand for questions
- his Snap-on dealer will be on hand, shop for that special tool you might need
- he's an Active Autowerkz dealer, he can talk with you about AA products if you're interested
- he's offering a couple of specials that day, again call to get a time slot:
+ Liqui Moly oil change special for $79.95 (up to 7 qts, non-M cars; M cars call for price)
+ 4-wheel alignment for $125
+ other desired maintenance, call in advance or talk to them that day

Winter is finally over, come out to meet up with fellow enthusiasts, ogle the cars and have some BBQ.

Thanks for setting this up Bruce. I hope to come for a while before I have to head to the airport to send Nolan off to Ecuador for the month of Jun. Not sure how much maintenance I'll risk doing given the 1 hour time limit and need to get home and out to IAD. May use the rack to put spacer's on Colin's car. Cooling system, OFHG, etc. will have to wait.

Awesome idea Bruce! I'd love to stop by, the CDV Delete I've got in mind would be perfect for that timeframe. Unfortunately, I'm heading down to Tennessee that day for a wedding. Here's hoping all goes well (so another one could be in the works)!

Thanks Charlie! We have 2-1/2 weeks until this meet, hopefully some other folks will find a spot in their day to stop by for an hour or two. I believe Stuart is going to come by, his dilemma is which car to bring.

Bump. We're the baddddddddest non-SIG in the BMW family, especially heavy concentration in MD-DC-VA area, and all we can get is me, Charlie & Shawn??? The local e30's are going to out number us, post up for 31 May. Heck the 2002's may swamp us too.

Were all here. It just a bad weekend for a lot of people because of other stuff. I really wanted to go this and see everyone and possibly change my O2 sensors since that seems to be the flavor of the month.

Hey, I could just say the car broke down and skip the wedding...I mean...I'd be at a shop so I'd have an alibi!

Bruce, thanks very much for your time and efforts to put this all together. I was hoping to be able to break away, but as others have said it is just a really bad weekend. Nonetheless, have an awesome time and we will look forward to photos and reports from the event!

I didn't really have much control over the date, the proprietor of that shop said he wanted to have an open house/meet for his customers during May. He offered up May 24th or 31st, then we discussed that the 24th was on Memorial Day weekend so traffic would suck and many people probably already had plans, so it became the end of the month. I asked if he could open up one rack for DIY'ers and offer some maintenance specials, he did. I'm not going to sweat the attendance, if you can make it great, if not maybe another time. Also posted the notice over on the locals section of e46f, hopefully some of them will come out. I'd just like to see reasonable attendance so this shop will consider hosting another meet & DIY event in the future.

Talked with the proprietor today, this little meet has taken a life of its own. A Ferrari club is supposedly attending, Porsche & Lamborghini, he had to add a second food vendor as he's being warned to expect over 200 cars will show. Supposedly a car photographer will attend, I'm going to ask my Dentless repair guy & my detailer to attend.

I have an excuse for not going... Bummer though, I would love to attend! I really liked the enthusiast base when we were there for the reunion last year. The SouthFL crowd is a bunch of douchey type of guys.

Sounds good. I see the location now--near Ft. Belvoir (where I was stationed for 4.5 years) off I-95. Seems like a not to busy spot on the w/e.
