Nice. Looks like it's in great shape. Does it need restoration?

It needs new paint and some tinkering, but he got a good buy. He and I talked about it before he bought the car

It actually came from your part of the country ;)

It might seem far to you, but I'm sure its seems close in perspective to the east coast. There are a lot of nice old school BMWs out here that are just tucked away hiding.

it def needs bodywork and paintwork - no rust that I can find - I have had it up on the lift and all the original metal is intact and solid

2002 Tiis are great cars. We had a restored Tii that was featured at BMW's Spartanburg plant. I miss it.

FYI, supplemental lamps are mounted wrong. This is how the factory did it:

If you look behind the grill, it mounts to the vertical piece of the core support. It's a much stronger mounting point

interesting - what about with the chrome bumper - I kinda like the look of the front spoiler and the bumper

The bumper is not strong enough, it flexes. Both of those ideas look good, but are not the best idea. You could just make your own brackets that allow the lamps to sit lower but still mount in the correct method
Edit: I wonder where he got his brackets

I like this look but...
- you have the fender flare experience, make it metal
- you have a blue already, actually 2 shades of blue, time for your 3rd to be different - what does inka do for you?
- engine-wise, what are you thinking?
Excited to have a near front row seat for this resto-mod, know you'll be heavy on the performance mods

Fantastic!
I am all over this thread.
I am ready to do some nice fogs on the factory brackets.

If I do blue it will stay Baikal. Or I will go back to the original Chamonix white...or some other custom color.
Not a fan of orange (Inka or Colorado)
02s look great burgundy

Hey Stuart! Glad to see this working out! Always wanted a tii in Inka. Definitely in love with the obnoxious safety colors. Theres a local 3.0CSi in Golf yellow. It's like staring at the sun.
I vote an M2 type rebuild. The guys that sell the S14 when they put the S50/52 into the M3s are crazy. But an S14 would be at home in a car built by you :)
Subbed for updates!
