OK, so that's a funny way to describe it, but the issue is this:

I start the car from cold just fine and drive it (starting from cold this has never been an issue). I park and go do something, then come back out to my car and try to start it.

I get a "click!" and the dash lights up, but it doesn't crank.

I take the key out, put it in, get the same result, keep doing this until finally it just starts right up as if everything is normal.

I have no idea what's happening. It almost seems like a loose connection or something, but the fact that it only happens when the car is hot, and "fixes" itself within minutes, is totally perplexing to me. Any ideas?

check your battery connections and have it tested. if its fine then check your starter. if your battery is bad then it might be your alternator. you can check your alternator voltage output on your dashboard hidden on-board diagnostic go to 19 and then nine I think it should read 140. so if your battery is good and your alternator is good check your starter connection if its tight then you probably need a new starter

I'm guessing loose battery connection as well. My car would do the same thing. Sometimes not start. I jumped it 3-4 times before I troubleshot the issue. Ended up being a loose negative. Wasn't loose enough when I connected jumper cables to it to identify.

How many miles on the car/starter? If you are getting dash lights and a single "click", then it sounds like the starter may be on it's way out. Perhaps a loose connection at the battery, but if everything is lighting up normally on the dash, I would suspect that the starter may be dying.

Coming up on 95,000. Will definitely check the connections first. Thanks for the replies!
