A small update. Recently received some new parts from ECS Tuning. Tensioners were making some noise. So considering I was going to be in the area, thought I would go a little bit farther and replace a few parts. This will be installed soon when I have some time and weather is good. Today it is snowing in Denver :(

No, the dealership is raping the customer. It should not take 13+ hours to do this job. I have already called an independent shop recommended by local CCA members. Estimate was less than 1/3 the cost of what the dealership wants.

Today's joy included dealing with a stripped torx bolt. Shown is the drilled out bolt, what should replace it, and what I actually replaced it with (M10x25 10.9 grade bolt).

Last night I completed replacing the alternator, thermostat, water pump, water pump pulley, & power steering pulley.

After doing this job, I definite notice a noise difference. Here is the before and after videos:

After putting everything back together and adding coolant, I discovered a leak in the lower radiator hose. :/ I ordered two o-rings from BMP design.

I had a chance to look again today. I think I need to replace the entire hose. Even after a new seal, the lower hose where it connects to the thermostat is still leaking. I also checked codes and it was misfiring. However I think it is due to the car sitting too long.

Latest update: The problem was with a cracked thermostat housing. A bit disappointed it was on a brand new one from ECS however ECS was kind enough to send out a new one. Car is now completely driveable as needs to get ready for winter.

At this point, the only thing planned is to re-wrap the wheel and get boots via Coby Wheel. I would like to re-upholster the front seats. We'll see if budget allows. I also want to get the DISA repair kit however that may wait until spring. I really am not modding her at the moment. I want other things. Sadly they are not ZHP related. I also like her as-is.

Today I decided to take a few things off of the car in preparation for a future purchase (also a bit of a theft deterent :rofl). It took a while to find the springs in the steering wheel to get the airbag off. However, one I found them, it was easy to take off.

A friend of mine and I replaced the OE suspension with Bilstein Shocks and H&R Sport Springs. When taking the car to a shop to get an alignment, they stated the car (front and rear) could not be put into the sport alignment spec. Camber was too far out. I was told I needed front camber plates and rear trailing arms. I ordered the rear trailing arms and found a used set of front camber plates. The front plates were not compatible with shocks however they were able to get the rear into alignment. The front is as close as they could get to it.

In talking with regular mechanic at the time (Kelly Moss Motorsports; no alignment machine BTW), he stated the prior shop did not take enough time in getting the car set up. He told me he enjoyed doing alignments even though they did not have a rack.

I saw your post on the FB group. If you having issues with the alignment, you could get a second opinion. I learned to never trust the shop I went to for the alignment. They made me spend more money than I should have.

I have the arms with the rubber bushing ends. Handling wise, they work well. I've never felt the rear end wanted to step out when I have taken a curve a bit faster than normal. Really good ride comfort.

This morning I decided to install the GAS DISA repair kit. Install was fairly straightforward as long as you follow the instructions. My DISA value was in really good condition. Probably could have waited to perform it, but oh well. A very small stanley screwdriver (computer/laptop size) was perfect for getting the steel pin out.

Replaced the front rotors today. Could not get the pad sensor connector out of the pad and forgot to order the sensor. Will need to place an order for those.

I am tempted however to not replace the pads just yet. The LF rotor was warped due to a seized caliper. The caliper has since been replaced. An initial drive after replacing the rotors felt good.

For a while now my passenger side mirror would always adjust to a different position when I would unlock and sometimes lock the bar. A bit frustrating to be quite honest. In fall, my angel eyes starting flickering badly. After replaing the alternator in fall and having a fairly new battery I decided not to deal with it until spring. With spring here, I used torque to see the voltage swings.

I ran out ideas to see what it could be. So I unplugged the driver seat. Problem found. The bad news when doing this my airbag light is now always on and torque won't reset it

Today's impromptu repair. The window regulator I replaced this time last year broke again. Went to the stealership to get parts. Paid about $30 more than I should have however I didn't want to wait.

Also ordered UUC's CDV delete. I now need to learn how to bleed the clutch.

Has anyone tried this method? Seems pretty clever.

When I did it, I bought the complete SS line from UUC and that removed the CDV.

It is cheaper then the cdv delete kit and plus you are replacing the old rubber line.

As far as bleeding, I bled it from the slave cylinder on the trans. Put a hose on it, broke it loose and bled it.

I agree with Vas, you don't really need UUC's modified CDV when you can just remove the original CDV and connect the soft line to the hard line directly. I swapped out the original CDV with UUC's modified CDV because I got it for free and like a certain sense of "completeness" of a car, but I believe it was completely unnecessary. If you swap out the soft line with the UUC stainless steel (SS) clutch line at the same time, having the modified CDV shouldn't matter then either because I noticed that the diameter of the SS clutch line is narrower than UUC's modified CDV, so it shouldn't be the limiting factor.

That said, do what you want! It's probably cheapest to remove the original CDV and connect the original soft clutch line to the hardline, or buy UUC's SS clutch line and do the same thing, but swapping out the original CDV with UUC's modified CDV should net you a similar change in clutch feel.

As for bleeding the clutch, I've never heard of the way that's mentioned in the video. Seems like it would work logically. Most people I think just do as Vas said, bleed it through the slave cylinder bleed screw. It's not too hard, you can have someone pump the clutch pedal or use a power bleeder.

This morning I dealt with the stray wire. The wire on the other end was split and spliced into the red connectors. I removed/cut that connection and put electrical tape over it. I may deal with it at some point in the future. I need to figure out what the P.O. did. There is also a fuse wired which I thought was weird.

They should. I have not done that yet because I need to cover them too.

Edit: Vas, it does. I had to use the exacto knife to cut out the fabric so the cover would fit. Also, the tabs on the cover are brittle.

The detail was good, not great. The bar has been set a bit high by a good friend who has a detailing side business. It is unfortunate he is a 1000mi away.

If the paint is damaged, swirled, curbed, and rock chipped to hell...I would take a reputable body shop paint work over leaving it and looking at that all the time? I'd be pissed if I had new car that got hit or hail damage and then needed paintwork, but at this point does it matter? New paint on 10+ year old car is...new paint.

ZHP is going into the shop on Jan 4th.

Got an update from the body shop. The ZHP should hopefully be ready next week Friday. The estimate jumped from $2,500 to $5,000 (less deductible). The good news is that it doesn't count against me because it is hail damage. They are replacing the entire shadowline door trim which at first I thought was weird. The right rear section is missing because the clips broke and I couldn't re-attach it. I am also not going to complain. They are also replacing the roof moulding.

Hopefully Friday it'll be back in my possession.

So, no major update as of late. I think the ZHP has either a blown shock or a bad RSM mount. Noise is coming from the right rear as of late and is a lot more pronounced. I thought I had a blown shock a year or two ago and had ordered a replacement from Bilstein. I haven't installed it because the noise at the time vanished. It now may be time to revisit this.

The ZHP may have a new home in the near future as my g/f put in an offer on a house. If all goes through, I'll probably wait to do the work then.

My guess the mounts are Meyle HD mount. it came with the mounting kit from Turner. Once I get moved into the house, I'm going to look into the shocks more.

As for the house, yes it does. The original house she put an offer on did not work out. The house she is under contract now is looking like it'll work out. And it has an oversized garage :D

The market out here in CO is ridiculous. Seriously ridiculous. And sadly, there are some shady people unfortunately.

ZHP got emissions tested yesterday. I swear there are some real "quality" people there. Took them three times to test the car. I was nervous the entire time.

Next up is getting the bike rack on the car and getting her ready for the move to the house. My girlfriend closes on the 5th. Excited to have a home for the vehicles and be able to do work.

Tonight I looked at the rear end of the ZHP to see what was causing the noise. After looking at the subframe bushings (which are fine), I decided to remove right rear shock because I thought it was blown.

The differential mounts have already been replaced about 30,000mi ago. And last I checked (a month ago), the subframe bushings were fine as well. The engine and transmission mounts are still original. Considering it is happening when I shift, I think it is the transmission mounts.

I'm thinking about picking this up to do both the engine and transmissions mounts (vs jacking up at the oil pan).

Today I got the car checked out by my mechanic (Paddock Imports) in preparation for a track day event (needed papers signed) as well as trying to diagnose/fix some drivetrain issues when shifting. Definitely feels like a "rear clunk" like when my differential carrier bushings were cracked. I thought my transmission mounts were going bad. When driving my car, my mechanic thought it might be something with the differential. After investigating more, he decided I should wait as it wasn't a huge concern to him at the moment rather than throw parts at it. I'm ok with that.

However, when reviewing my car for the track event, they found out my expansion tank was leaking at the base/mount. :facepalm Of course, the one part (besides the radiator) which I didn't replace.

Held my motor in place for 2 days while I dug into the oil pan gasket project. Was a lot of labor, but not necessarily hard, if you have the right tools.

I was thinking of adding mine to the ZHP Mafia Tool Library (to join the fender roller) as I do not have a place to store mine really. I am willing to send mine around for other members to use. Shipping should not be to costly, and this would have to be a decision made by the person doing the work. They can be had pretty cheaply, so if shipping cost, say $30, then maybe its not worth it to ship it and youd buy your own. However, in this case, Oregon is close and shipping should be cheaper. While this is a great tool to have, it is limited in its applications. Another thing to think of. I have very limited space with my current living situation, so storing a big metal bar would not go over well with the GF.

I'm willing to share mine with other Mafia Members on these terms conditions. 1.) I am not liable for anything that goes wrong while you are using it. 2.) You do not keep it and send it to the next Mafia member in need. 3.) Don't lose the parts! 4.) It is returned to me when the time comes that I need it again :)

Tonight I finally got the cooling system to stop leaking. It looks like the seals on the expansion tank went bad/dry. What's sad is that the expansion tank is not even a year old. Due to time, just went to the dealer and bought a new expansion tank and re-attached everything. Took it for a quick drive and do not see any leaks whatsoever. This makes me happy as it's just in time for my track event this weekend.

Tomorrow I will be packing the car and getting everything ready.

I have no idea. The ET (Meyle brand) was purchased from ECS just over a year ago. Trust me, I was a bit livid trying to figure the whole thing out. Also broke the sensor on the ET and the new mounting bracket I bought. Had to go back to the original bracket which I'm glad I saved.

They can be had pretty cheaply, so if shipping cost, say $30, then maybe its not worth it to ship it and youd buy your own. However, in this case, Oregon is close and shipping should be cheaper. While this is a great tool to have, it is limited in its applications. Another thing to think of. I have very limited space with my current living situation, so storing a big metal bar would not go over well with the GF.

GotZHP, I'll keep this in mind. I decided to take my car to my mechanic because I needed it inspected for a track event. He's not sure what going on though he noticed the driveline issues. Not sure if something in the differential is failing or if it is the mounts. He told me to wait and see rather than throw parts at the problem.
