The passion for E30s was strong, amidst a time when money was tight but fun was much craved. Being over the age of a legal adult, the E30 was aging in some respects, not so much in the fun that it brought, but in the mechanical department, from years of potential neglect and abuse. As with all things mechanical, you usually get what you pay for. There are exceptions to the rule, however.

This particular case was definitely an exception. Sitting on the side of a busy street, parked on the side of a curb, was a lowly E30, the 325 badge adorning its faded (pink) bootlid. The meeting was all an accident, as I just happened to be at the right place at the right time. The gravitational pull of the E30 was much too strong to be resisted, as I approached it despite not being too keen on the E30 body style.

Four years later, the beast has shown its true colors. No longer a faded shade of pinkish Cinnabar but instead a bright Brilliantrot, the E30 stands confidently, parked on the side street with more than a feather in its cap. The silent growl can be heard despite the ignition boringly displaying OFF. 6 cylinders of fury lay under the bonnet, like before, only these cylinders provided much more than just belly-dancers to dance atop the bonnet, oh no. They offered full-on lap dances to tickle the members of the Trouser Department once the foot became heavily laden with weight. The scene would be the equivalent of 240 lap dancers eager to please. The menacing growl enticed the brave soul to push farther into the deep depths of 6000RPM only to have the pants ripped off at the last second for a quick surprise. But...

The fiery passion was gone almost as quickly as it had arrived. While there was the excellent quality of the indescribably smooth and intoxicating naturally-aspirated power, there were drawbacks to this crazed toy. These drawbacks were enough to draw the final line in the sand.

Yes, there was a mistress.

Found on the pages of a list made by a man most can only assume is Craig, the Imola mistress sat, looking very much lonely and sad. My heart ached in pain as I saw it sitting there, looking at me with its beastly eyes trying their best to look sulky. A few minutes later I had come to the realization of what had been done; a date has been set, and my mechanical life changed once again.

The first date was incredibly romantic, as though from the pages of a novel by your favorite romantic novellist. Her former lover was leaving her, and she was alone.

The first few months of our relationship was trying. In order to make her legal, I had to go through the immigration process known as registration, which was impossible due to the absence of a piece of paper. Unfortunately, this piece of paper was enough to make our affair less-than-legally-ideal. Eventually, another one was dreamed up by the fine folks at the Massachusetts RMV and the marriage was complete.

The way her eyes beckoned was irresistable...

We quickly bonded, forming a connection stronger than the stench of your most noxious fart lingering in your nose. That feeling still lingers.

That weekend, we shared a very special day together chasing cones through the fields of pavement, collecting flowers (weeds) and snakes all day. The magic was unimaginable.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51079458036_2a84fa219c_b.jpg

Unfortunately, she had cataracts in two of her eyes, and needed to go in for surgery. Through the painful process of greens flying out of my wallet and anxiously awaiting her return so I wouldn't be late for lunch, some relief finally found its way to my heart. She emerged, cataracts no more! We celebrated this immense freedom with yet more days of cone chasing in fields of everlasting love:

Now, being a female, she was crazed with shoes. Not being made of money and her having no income proved this to be challenging, so we agreed on our first compromise; new shoes of the same kind, but with a different color. This was enough to make her happy, and if she's happy, I'm happy.

Wobbie peeking out from behind the house

After a while, I knew I wouldn't be able to go much longer without needing to buy more shoes for her. So, as an anniversary (don't ask which one) present, I bought her precisely what she wanted, so she could do what she loves to do best.

Wobbie being happy

Some time passed, during which time our relationship hadn't changed. We were still crazy about spending time together, and our time elapsed through dry and through the "gifts" from Old Man Winter (screw you, old man!):

Wobbie, pissed

Christmas, a time of cheer and, according to Americans, gift giving, brought us to a point where I wanted to do something special for Wobbie. I ordered a lovely tattoo to be placed on her bum for all to see...

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51078761968_91716de57e_c.jpg

... and finally some more tattoos to make her feel extra special. She felt all warm inside when these tattoos were applied, as though a child first experiencing a birthday gift.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51010272365_2a50eaf79c_c.jpg

To this day, we stay happy with each other, working through life's daily struggles. But, like all things, this saga continues, and like all good things, there will be more...

BP, I saw your car before I bought mine. It was your car that sealed the deal for me that, when I did get a ZHP, I'd have OEM M3 mirrors.

I love the first shot the best.

Great write up. The projects forum at ZHPMafia.com is my favorite forum.

Nice!! Haha.

I was kneeing down against the couch on my beloved device that I sadly call my life. Without it I would feel unclothed, exposed, and vulnerable to the world. To you, the public, it's my iPhone. I then swipe my way to something eye catching. STOP. Thumb tap. Scrolling halts. I find a carefully worded story which felt just like watching the first Trailer for Ronin. A BMW that exudes beauty and grace with a conclusion that was unknown unless I read on. I'd rather get up and continue this on something bigger to read but that sacrifice is just too great....

Now I learn of a great writer and an even tighter love to the ZHP and it's Mafia.

Ultimate. Joy. Passion.

LOVE IT!!! My knees hurt. Going to get a drink now. Thanks for the read and inspiration for me to write this. LOL

I definitely have plans for this car in the cosmetic department that not many have done. I want to keep the mode mostly on the side of things that aren't as common. That means no clears and no eagle eyes. It'll definitely keep it fresh, and may or may not decide to include some of the aforementioned items, or variations of.

I'm thinking yellow high beam bowls, black LTW flag on the front corner. Instead of yellow bowls, perhaps having angel eyes only on the high beams, complimented by the yellow fogs being turned on. Etc.

I technically do not have a name for the car. I just decided to use what's on the license plate as a makeshift name. I do not call my car Wobbie at all when speaking about it, nor have I ever called it that in the past. That is strictly for use in this thread only unless others escalate it. I for sure will not start the trend.

The mist of ideas filled the room as the reality of mods drew closer and closer, the financial burdens of nurturing slowly melting away. The mods beckoned, and soon I would be powerless to resist...

My first "mod" is going to be brand new headlight lenses and either yellow or clear Lamin-X. I will probably also swap out the fog light surround trim from the chipped Imola to the stock black plastic ones.

I may swap the order of operations with an exhaust, which I yearn for more strongly than any cosmetics.

Okay...Here's what I think:

The Yellow High beam bowls definitely look bad ass at all times.

I think you should keep the AEs as is...I believe the x5 and facelift e39s OEM AEs, remain on when the the Low beams are on as well as when the high beams are on.

If you do decide to do yellow Lamin-X on the lenses I would leave the Amber corners and delete the AEs and no yellow bowls (obviously)...So retro! And with the Imolarot, I think it would be quite delicious. But I can only picture this in my mind, I need to see it to believe it.

Xenons should be 5000k and properly leveled to ensure the yellow lenses don't limit any night time vision and that they aren't any other odd mixture of the light temperature blending through the yellow filter.

Can't wait to see where this goes! :thumbsup

az3579
03-08-2011, 02:45 AM
The yellow highbeam bowls is another option I forgot to add.
I want to keep the AE's at all costs, which is why I'm trying to figure out how it's going to look. I don't want to get stopped by the 5-0, so the yellow bowls seems more likely than an entire yellow Lamin-X cover so that getting stopped doesn't happen.

Perhaps an easier way to achieve this is by just fitting a yellow bulb in the highbeams, which will give it the yellow look.

Clears ain't happening. Still have to make a final decision on whether to make the highs painted bowls or just a yellow bulb. Quite honestly I like the look of both, so I may end up with what takes less work to complete. Yellow bowls is what you have, I assume?

pyreguy
03-09-2011, 04:13 AM
I have yellow bulbs in mine. I think I prefer that over a painted bowl because I think it's cool how it looks different at different angles. It's more interesting to look at.

Although, I would prefer a stronger yellow presence.

It's easily reversible with acetone or paint thinner and a respray with chrome paint.

For those that are interested: The Chris Brown thread (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=740796) over at e46fanatics. It was the deciding factor in my completion of the mod. Plenty of pics to choose from and formulate an opinion. If you have Bi-Xenons, it's one of the cheapest ways to improve cosmetics without hindering night time visibility.

I'm skeptical on the FX-R's, I've read (and seen) some pretty bad stuff on the lack of foreground light issue.

Hornung418
03-09-2011, 04:33 PM
I guess you could turn on the fogs if that's an issue? If you could provide a link that clearly explains your skepticism, that would be educational for everybody. Terraphantm (very educated in the world of Lighting and coding), has sung nothing but high praise about the FX-R units.

I don't really think it's that much of a problem, as long as you have your fogs on

Rovert
03-09-2011, 06:36 PM
On a flip side, if the light spread is brighter and better 20 feet and further in front of me rather than more light before 20 feet...I'd take that. I'm not concerned at speed what's 10 feet in front of me because if I see it, it's too late the enjoy it anyways...LOL

Hornung418
03-09-2011, 09:19 PM
When looking at the horizon line, the eyes only perceive ~20 feet in front, so that 20 feet is negligible. Aside from a minor very lighting issue, are there any other outstanding issues with them? I'm definitely thinking about getting some AL projector bowls off of eBay and attempting an FX-R retrofit, myself.

Agreed with Trevor; if I'm going down a road at a high rate of speed, I only need to see what's well beyond the front of my car, because if it's a coupe of feet in front of it, it's far too late to avoid it anyway.

Will do once I get the interior cleaned up a bit. Right now it's really dusty and nasty; it hasn't been cleaned in well over a month (vacation screwed up the cleaning schedule). Once it gets cleaned up I'll take a pic just for you. :)

Today, I met up with Cameron (09mageec - very nice guy) for him to take me on a ride in his car to sample the exhaust. He has the UUC TSE3 exhaust in his. This is one of the exhausts I was originally considering due to the price, but I hated the sound that I heard in videos on YouTube. I thought of giving it another go only this time in person, and am now very much considering this again. The sound is awesome and isn't so loud at cruising that it would get in the way, but when you get on it, you can hear it roar!

Now it's a close game between the Magnaflow and the UUC TSE3. Decisions, decisions...

The packages bestowed their weight upon the man's arms, one by one, until each of them were safely loaded onto the transportation vehicle. As the rear door slammed shut on the brown truck, the wheels sat in the dark cardboard boxes, awaiting the decision to be laid upon them that shall determine their fate. It wouldn't be long until their faces would be misted with particles of metallic flakes and paint that would soon lay rest on their surfaces permanently. Until that time, however, there would be nothing they could do until they were to arrive at their final destination...

... hopefully by the end of this week. :shifty

It's never the cars, I'm worried about. It's the drivers. Moving to one of those classes would mean many more modifications allowed on the cars, and that's a level I'm not willing to take my car to as it has to stay a daily driver. So, as if I didn't have a chance already in those classes due to awesome drivers, I especially wouldn't have a chance if they modded their cars to the extent of the class' limitations.

The darkness crept ever so slowly towards the front of Wobbie as its face stayed still, hoping that that it would soon pass. Pass it did, though not without leaving some remnants of its existance behind. The sun may have taken over, but there was no getting rid of the scars of darkness...

Some updates that were long lost have now found home.

LED turn signal bulbs front, side, and rear now adorn this vehicle. The brake lights felt lonely, so they were joined by another pair of LEDs for use as brake lights. The LEDs are now one big happy family.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvx3avFpCIU

Then, one day, some Style 71's showed up on my radar. I quickly decided to recruit the Style 71's and have them work for me. So, I now have a new employee. All, meet BMW Style 71's, a hardened, 2-piece "forged" (that's what it says on its resume) wheel that is trim (weighs less) and ready for action.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa192/az3579/Automotive/BMW%20E46%20330i%20ZHP/Exterior/IMG_0740.jpg

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa192/az3579/Automotive/BMW%20E46%20330i%20ZHP/Exterior/2011-06-13_06-11-19_581.jpg

Amongst the chaos, my amber turn signal lights were getting very lonely and needed attention. I succumbed to their begging, and reinstalled them on my vehicle, using safety as an excuse. There must be light for one to see, and it was harder to see those gorgeous LED bulbs with smoke all around the lights!
Wobbie traded the dark mascara for something a little more "lively".

Better not sell out by the time I can buy them! So far the strut brace and I think the intake are out of sight; if those goes, I don't know what I'm going to do for brakes. All other kits are massively more expensive...

Could just roll stock like the rest of us. BMW brakes are pretty good.

They're fine...
... for street driving.

I will be doing better tracks next year that are more intensive on braking, so my OEM brakes as-is won't cut it. I'd rather "go big or go home" in this department; I know myself well enough that I'm not going to stop thinking about this 'till I get it. This kit would help me with the brake fade issue I'm having. Plus, it looks sexy as hell to have 6 pots staring you down if you dare lower your head to its level, but since I'm doing this for performance, the ugly yellow color doesn't bother me one bit. Function over form.

Plus, the price is unbeatable. You can't get a big brake kit for this kind of money. Everything else is at least 75% more $$. I'd rather just get all the components than pick and choose from a few to go with a stock braking setup.

In my eyes, this is actually better value for money than any of the "BMW Performance" parts. What's the strut tower, intake, exhaust, and shift knob going to do for you that cheaper components won't? Yeah, they look a little better than everything else, but that's pretty much it. This particular component is actually excellent value in a sense that all other kits are near $2k or more, for pretty much the same performance, and this actually is a performance part that does something as opposed to just being eye candy.

The way I see it is that I'd rather get this excellently priced set now while I still can before it goes out of production, because then it'll be even more money to get what I was going to get at some point anyway.

I do give credit to the BMW stock brakes; they have great performance for spirited driving and light track usage. I just don't want to skimp on brakes after a couple of close calls I had with cars braking in front of me. They had better brakes, so of course they were slowly getting closer and closer as I lay on the ABS... I'll just have to get some debts paid off first before I get it.

Besides, this opens the door for other things, like an S54 or forced induction. :)

I just don't want to skimp on brakes after a couple of close calls I had with cars braking in front of me. They had better brakes, so of course they were slowly getting closer and closer as I lay on the ABS

If your ABS is activating wouldn't you need to update your tires and not your brakes? The brakes are giving enough stopping power if you can cause the ABS to engage, you just aren't getting enough friction from your tires.

az3579
10-05-2011, 02:13 PM
If your ABS is activating wouldn't you need to update your tires and not your brakes? The brakes are giving enough stopping power if you can cause the ABS to engage, you just aren't getting enough friction from your tires.

Definitely not a loss of traction at that point. I would just like to have better control over my brakes. Threshold braking is more effective than ABS braking, and I want the better control of a big brake setup to be able to modulate my brakes right at the limit before ABS kicks in so I could get an overall stopping distance. I also benefit from this by getting more practice with threshold braking; I've having a hard time doing that with my existing brakes and don't want to spend money on the current setup if I'm just going to upgrade the whole thing down the line anyway.

Other "wins" from it are pedal modulation and fade resistance.

And as I said, I want this kit now while I can still get it, because plans are brewing in my head for more power down the road.

Buying this kit is the same justification as everything else people buy for their cars; suspension, exhausts, power mods; it's just "better". :)

zj96sc
10-05-2011, 03:52 PM
I think from way you're talking that you're beyond wanting/needing ABS on the track. That is probably step one to clear out any interference between you and how well the brakes are working for you.

These are Depo lights. Got them from Khoalty for $190 shipped, approximately $150 less than the next vendor I would have considered. Same exact lights.
These came with the resistor boxes. All I had to do with plug them in; everything (mostly) was plug and play, with the exception of the fix I had to perform because of my defunct ground wire on the driver's side. I was easily able to tuck them into the space below the headlight, covered by the trunk lining. There's a surprising amount of space in there!

The reverse light is now my LED "turn signal" bulb I was previously using as my "brake lights" in my non-LED housing. I put the amber turns back into where they belong (in the turn signal). I don't have LED trunk lights........ yet. :)

Look'n good!

Um...I thought you would at least get a sound clip from outside the car and do a drive-bye or go faster than 30 mph with the windows down.

Son, I am disappoint.

I'm sorry to hear that you're disappointed in my driving style and the fact that there wasn't anybody available to hold my phone for me outside.
This video wasn't meant to be just like all of the other videos on YouTube. It was meant to get "in car" video of normal driving, something that YouTube seems to lack. If there were more videos like this on YouTube, I wouldn't have had such a hard time deciding.

If you want, I could take some videos like that for you, but that'll take a while, as I have to get someone I know to hold the phone for me while I drive by, and it would require some roads that allow for multiple accelerations.

Goes without mentioning that the times the windows were down were painful as it was as I had to keep the heat off to prevent "wind" noise, and that it was in the twenties last night temperature-wise. Hands were ice cold...

I'm told that it'll warm up this week, so I'll be sure to take some videos with different perspective.

Um...I thought you would at least get a sound clip from outside the car and do a drive-bye or go faster than 30 mph with the windows down.

Son, I am disappoint.

I would have thought this as well. But I'm actually surprised how quiet it is inside. Or is it just as loud as i expected it to be, but the sound deadening is making it better?

az3579
01-03-2012, 03:19 PM
Make no mistake, it is loud from the outside.
The sound deadening is killing a lot of the noise.

The advertise this exhaust as a NO DRONE exhaust, so you will barely hear it while cruising, which is one thing I was demonstrating. It's when you give it some gas that it comes to life.

Since you two want some acceleration videos, I'll make some time to head out to my favorite road to record some good runs, where there shouldn't be much traffic. It may take a few days, though. I'm afraid I may not be able to get drive-by videos for a while; my friend is working a lot this week so I won't be able to have him hold the phone to record until he gets some time.

Hornung418
01-03-2012, 03:39 PM
You can't mock up a stand to hold your phone? This is audio recording not video...you can press play, get in your car and drive by. I'm confused by how hard this is that you would need a friend to hold the phone...

A piece of cloth, a bungee cord and a tree should be enough to mount the phone to the tree with out scratching the screen and provide you with a decent vantage point and allow for some good audio collection.

Sounds great, Charlie. See you Sunday!

Horney,
I made a new video tonight that I feel will be MUCH to your liking. In car once again, but with more revs...
(only so much you can do while trying to be "good"... normal pace on this road is a LOT faster than this)
(for "fast" versions of this drive, you'll need to contact me via PM as I will not post videos like that for the public to see)
Outside vid will be on Sunday when I go visit Charlie.

Negative. Those are missing from when we did the M3 projector retrofit. When I put them back, I didn't put them in correctly and one fell out and got lost. I removed the other one until I could replace the lost side. :(

So is this the full catback or just the light version? Do you guys know if the light version is any different sound/performance wise?

I swear I already answered this on my phone but now that I'm here on the computer, the post is nowhere to be found. WTH...

This is the full catback. The sound different between the full and the light should be minimal, but the performance potential is less with the light. The system is designed as a full, so that is what would bring about the optimal performance benefit when coupled with headers and intake.

So Charlie gave it away before I could post pics, so here they are. I may have sneaked a few pics with Charlie's ZHP as well. :biggrin
The lights are much more subtle than the pics suggest. The iPhone camera doesn't like the exposure so unfortunately this is how it turns out. I'll get my nice camera and do some pics soon.

Installation was as simple as installing an Angel Eye harness using the same instructions as for Angel Eyes and then hooking up quick-disconnect connectors to the city light harness. When you feel like swapping out the AE's, just unplug those and plug in the city lights, and they will function exactly the same.
I will be removing the angel eye rings tomorrow so it doesn't look like arse when they're not on.

This wasn't done the OEM way, so I don't have the correct LCM pins hooked up. I didn't do it that way because I wanted them on as running lights, and the OEM way requires the light switch to be on.

If you follow any angel eye harness DIY, you can hook up city lights to the AE harness. Just hook in the city lights instead of the AE's.

I bought my harness from Khoalty for $12.

What 17's? The wheels that are the same size and offsets as stock ZHP wheels. No spacers. Less than maybe 3mm of clearance between caliper and spoke. :)

My Kosei K1 auto-x wheels are 17's. I'll have to see if I could fit them because I completely forgot about them when I ordered the kit.

Not bad at all. Because of the spoke design, thinking that Kosei K1's should clear. They're track wheels, so I would hope the design accounts for that! They cleared my BBK on my E30 (4-piston), only those were 15".

From what I have read. Most of these problems only exist with Track pads and extensive track racing. I already ordered Titanium shims to see if it will help minimize the heat to the ceramic caps on the pistons. If the piston caps become brittle, its time for an overhaul of my brakes. $500...

The seals are expensive cause they are stoptech higher silicone seals. If you plan to track, you should consider those. Im planning to get them when my caps crack lol.

The prominence of darkness has finally diminished from the interior of Wobbie's dark and desolate interior. The light has taken over the once mysterious dark trim pieces adorning my door, transforming them into rays of bright contrast. What was once rather bland has now become invigorating, interesting, and "special". This transformation will be now known as: The Silver Cube Implementation.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa192/az3579/Automotive/BMW%20E46%20330i%20ZHP/Interior/11005d1c.jpg

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa192/az3579/Automotive/BMW%20E46%20330i%20ZHP/Interior/c805e89f.jpg

Whilst the interior was undergoing an evolution of contrast, the exterior was partaking in a renovation of its own. The sinister front of Wobbie has been morphed into a brighter personality, one that is still a bit anti-social, but with hopes of becoming a social butterfly. The process of washing off the dark makeup has yielded a medium personality that seems to suit Wobbie well for now. With every "turn", people will be able to see into her evolving personality, slowly becoming more apparent with every blink. For those who wish to skip all the hassle of figuring out what I mean: look at the turn signals. Lamin-X Tint. Clear corners underneath. Bam.

Car looks great BP.

Have you had any difficulty reversing at night since your tail light tint? I'm about to tint my new tails, (not with the film though) and I'm debating tinting or not tinting the reverse area. I don't have the cool RCR red, but my current tails are tinted and I can't see poop when I reverse at night. But when I tinted them the tail the paint reacted with the reverse light area and severely distorted the plastic. I've learned the solution for this, spray with clear first, but I'm still nervous about tinting and visibility.

Ryan,

With the light smoke tint film there's no issues regarding brake, turn signals, or reversing lights. I have the same shade on my ///M and have absolutely no issues. The reverse lights still come out bright enough and I can see when backing my car at night. I think when you go with darker tints you will have problems seeing...

Not comfortable with spray tinting but applying a light smoke film is easy. Although doing BP's was a bit challenging, I was up to the task :)

Me? Trouble seeing at night when reversing? Hell no!

I have fully LED tails and bright-as-hell LED reverse lights. Blinding, in fact. :)

As Charlie said, the film tint doesn't affect light output much, depending on what shade you got. If you had the Charcoal film (the darkest one Lamin-X makes), then maybe you'd see a little less. I have the Tint shade, the second lightest film they make right next to Clear.

derbo
08-05-2012, 02:10 PM
The way the perf sway bar connects to the shock towers covers over the center of the shock adjustment area. Since I have -3 camber the shock's adjustment knob is no longcanon the center of the shock tower and tilted towards the inside of the car. The perf bar blocks access to the adjustment. Since I adjusted the dampening so often it become a bother and the only way to fix it was to remove the bar :(

But it sure is the most fancy looking :)

Apparently it's a special order item and they've never stocked it. None of the other Lowe's have what I'm looking for, which is the Metalizer addon. The website LIED TO ME!!! :(

I couldn't do that; Imola is far too sexy to cover up! That rings especially true with the amazing detail I have on it much thanks to my good friend Charlie!

I want to dip my door moldings so they look fresh again. I also want to see if I can dip my rear spoiler black and see if there's something I can add to it to make it glossy while still maintain its removable properties.

I'm toying with making my mirrors black while leaving certain sections Imola, sort of like a custom design. Thinking about my door handles as well, though I'm having a hard time imagining this one. I will most definitely be doing my roof in black if I can find a way to make it glossy yet still removable like my rear lip spoiler.

I wanted other flavors of PD for a broken interior trim piece I want to experiment with since that trim piece is getting replaced anyway. Was thinking of dipping my spare black cube set and doing a custom silver Sharpie design on it for the time being until I replace my broken silver cube passenger dash piece.

Tonight Wobz was treated to some brake pads that won't turn her wheels black. EBC Red Stuff pads went in tonight (new compound) on the front 6-pot calipers. The rears are running the stock calipers with OEM pads at this time.

Finished the job in a record-breaking (to me) half hour, including the time to jack the car up, take off the wheels, and figure out how the f#$@ to insert the pads and not have that stupid clip at the end prevent the pad from going in. Whoever thought of this design needs to be shot.

The new pads are RED in color, hence the name. They look nice contrasting with the Imola and the yellow calipers. :)
I'll post pics installed tomorrow when there's light out.

Compared to the Hawk HP+ pads I had in there before.

OMG YES! the stupid clip is terrible. I then to push the clip and slip with with my other hand to the pegs. It's tedious but you get the hang of it if you do it alot. They seriously should've made it removable pads without removing the caliper...like stoptechs/aftermarket brembos.

Nope, can't do that. Reason: that would make sense. :shifty

Yea, that part of the pad adds 10% more time to the whole project. I find pinching it a little before trying to insert it helps considerably.

So, today I have an E36 M3 in my driveway instead of Wobz.
It's Avus Blue with an indicated 152k on the odometer, black Vaders.

No, I didn't get rid of my car. It's in the shop, from a surprise "fuck you" incident on the way home on Thursday. The driveshaft decided that it wanted to bang around in the tunnel, causing a racket that nearly gave me a premature heart attack. Car was flatbedded, and still don't have any news on it.

My guess is Center Support Bearing, which is odd because my BMW tech friend said he's never had to replace one before, nor has he ever seen one of his colleagues have to replace one. Of course the freak accident stuff happens to me. lol

So I get to drive this M3 as a loaner, and I'm afraid to say, I enjoy driving this car more than Wobbie... :(

Oh I know you guys don't like the Prius. I just was pulling Charlie's chain lol.

My prius has 7200 miles in 3 months now. I'm just glad it's not on the BMW. I only drove the BMW 1k since I got the Prius. :)

But back on topic,

Did the drive shaft drop from the guibo side? Hopefully nothing too much trouble.

Refinished silver cube trim. The original intention was to refinish as shadow cube, purchasing paint that on the cap was much darker. It turns out that using Duplicolor Nissan Precision Grey doesn't make the trim look like shadow cube but instead looks like brand new silver cube. Not my intention but I really like it!

Was your trim in bad shape to begin with?

The silver previously had many small scratches, detracting from the stunningness of what is known as silver cube. This is the reason Charlie upgraded his trim.

I merely gave the trim a new life, with still some very minor scarring remaining (deeper scratches the paint doesn't fill).
