So. I purchased my first ZHP and first BMW from Robby/bmwtech113 yesterday in Knoxville, TN and it could not have been more fun!
Left around 5:30 AM Friday with the gf (who was kind/awesome enough to accompany me on the journey from Vienna and who has been at the forefront of my ZHP musings since I started looking a few months ago). Arrived around 2 PM, met Robby and Scarlett for the first time in person. The car was exactly as I expected it to be...excellent. We made the transaction and Robby said his farewells.

We had some Bojangles (gf is from NY...she got her fair share of chicken and biscuits on this trip!) and we were back on the road...
Score another ZHP for the Old Dominion!

Stopped off at Virginia Tech and stayed the night with my brother...let's just say we both have red cars and he was very impressed:

The rest of the drive was well...smooth...solid...(those same words from my "What does it feel like to drive" thread I now definitely speak myself) and to be honest, one of the best driving experiences I've had. I parked her in the driveway...went inside...and within a couple minutes had to drive around the block a few more times! I already love this car and am looking forward to getting to know her...oh, and all of you, of course (looking into heading up to NJ)! :thumbsup

Here she is from the side, more pics to come! Thanks to all those involved with making this car appear in the driveway! -Daniel/NoVAphotog

That is a beauty. Congrats on the purchase, and welcome to the family of ZHP fanatics here. Any mods on the horizon, or will you keep it stock (at least during the hooneymoon period :)?

Thanks! And speaking of that, I will probably be starting a project thread here soon. She needs some PM/wear items work that I want to do myself depending on feedback I get. Otherwise, I've been thinking about starting with the CDV delete, although, I haven't really noticed (other than a few hill starts) anything different than driving other manual cars. I do notice a lot of folks on here have done it, does it improve the driving experience a lot for how simple it is to do?

I do notice a lot of folks on here have done it, does it improve the driving experience a lot for how simple it is to do?Some people swear the CDV delete is an improvement, and then there are some like me who think removing it is not necessary. There can be some notchiness in the 1 - 2, or 2 -3 gear synchro's (especially when cold and not yet up to prime operating temperature) especially when short shifting, but if you are deliberate about your throws until everything is lubed properly I found it not to be an issue.
Best thing is on one of the Mafia get-togethers to ask someone if you could ride shotgun with them in their CDVasectomied car. Chances are someone in the bunch will even let you get in the driver's seat to see for yourself.
Biggest change in cdv delete for me is feeling the car more. If I miss a shift I missssss a shift. Easier to be smooth about shifts too, but when cold I do have to be deliberate.

Super clean Imola! I met up with Vas when bringing home my Imola last night and he mentioned how clean yours is. Too bad I'm all the way in Nashville, grrrr!! Looking forward to seeing any future projects. I'm pretty sure I won't be doing the CDV delete on mine because it's a requirement to keep the cupholder. Especially since there's nowhere in the door or under the climate control for storage. :conversation

Thank you sir! And I believe you are mistaking the CDV for something else, the CDV is the "Clutch Delay Valve" and is a part of the clutch system. It basically delays the operation of the clutch for "smoother operation." If you don't really notice anything "off" about the way the car drives, it's not really paramount, but if you start to notice "hey, I didn't mean to drop it that much more often" then that is a good thing to remove.

You are very right. Haha. For some reason I thought it had something to do with getting rid of the arm rest and cupholders...wayyyyyyy off. Maybe my 5 hours of sleep and 10 hours of driving is showing it's colors? Nahh. :ineedabeer

I have the arm-rest delete on my car and the euro tray. But you can delete the arm-rest and keep the original cup-holder in place as well.

Gotcha, I'm partial to the armrest but with the delete it did feel more natural when shifting. That was nice.
