Something I've been thinking about lately. Now that I have a LSD, I may badge my car as a 330is.

What say you?

I've actually been debating something similar...

I think Joop has brought that up a few times; maybe others. Personal preference.

Anyone that recognizes the car will know it's not original. Whether you care about that is up to you, but it will probably bring some trolling.

I probably wouldn't.

Wyatt!! Dude, I spoke to one of your buddies today, he works for Michelin and was working the tent at Sebring... He asked about my car and I humbly replied "I drive an E46 330i"... He said "zhp?" and then it went from there. Very cool guy, had lots of great info regarding tires...

Anyway, I think the ZHP should've been badged as a 330is from the beginning, but that's just me. Like others have said, it may bring some haters, but whatever... If you want to do it, go for it.

Such a small world! Johnny sure knows his tires. You should come up for the SCCA hill climb this weekend.

I mean, the zhp is the equivalent of today's 335is models, but personally I wouldn't do it. I'm not even a fan of debadging though.

That would make make mine a 330CiCs. Ha

Not a fan. Changing the number from 330 to something like 335 if you turbo/supercharge one day, sure....but adding the "is" will definitely bring some unwanted attention somewhere down the line.

Do what you like and who cares what anyone else thinks? 99.99999% of the population will have no idea. The other 0.000001% won't ever be around you to say anything. The crowd is fickle.

As much as I loath those stick on fender vents you can buy at advance auto or other things like that, I have to admire the people who put them on their cars. They could care less what others think, and I admire that.

I am a supporter of unwanted attention. I vote to put the "is" on.

I plan to and fully support anyone else who chooses to! (ZHP: "330is" or "///M330i"? (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?10120-ZHP-quot-330is-quot-or-quot-M330i-quot))

(Although “330Cics” might be a bit much! :rofl)

I have no idea why BMW didn't call it the 330is, which is exactly what it is. My current "-is" doesn't have an LSD, so I don't think it's a necessity.

I support the decision and think it'll make your enthusiasm known to fellow enthusiasts. I wish the M235i were called the 235is.

Personally, I don't "believe" in re-badging cars. If the car was a "330i" from the factory, then in my hands, it'll die as one. Regardless of what I change under the hood, from a LSD to an engine swap, IMO it doesn't change what the car "is," merely makes it better (hopefully). I prefer mods that don't stand out too much and scream "look at me."

At the end of the day, 99% of the people won't notice the difference, and the ones that do will be enthusiasts that'll wonder "wtf."

I think all car mods have to be a confident decision, and most threads that ask "should I do X?" come across as indecisive, and deserve a flat NO as the answer.

On the other hand, if someone wants to do something (decisive), and can't choose between A and B, then by all means, get a feel for what others think.

All that said and done, it's your car, and if you'd like a 330is badge, then I say go for it. Everyone has different tastes, and you should enjoy your car (and the modding process) as much as possible, regardless of who likes what.

As much as I loath those stick on fender vents you can buy at advance auto or other things like that, I have to admire the people who put them on their cars. They could care less what others think, and I admire that.

You know, I think people that stick on those fender "vents" care too much about what others think. IMO they're trying to pass off their car as something it's not, and that says they're doing it for someone else - not themselves. Of course, I'm sure there are exceptions, but still...

How about reverse-badging? Think that would be great and would keep'em guessing. 320d anyone?

I like the idea of the 330is badge.

What "unwanted" attention would there be? I doubt 99.9% of BMW owners would even know.
