I'm sure there are posts on how to do this if it is possible. I did an advanced search and couldn't find anything or just didn't look hard enough. I'm very close to purchasing this vehicle and just wanted to know if this is repairable or I would have to re upholster the whole seat. Thanks much!12487

The part number for the back is 52107895594. Everything's relative; $481 at ECS. If that's your worst problem, buy the car. :-)

Is removing the seat cover a pain. I got a ball park quote from a local upholstery shop for about $500 to replace the two outside alantara panels plus the cost of the alcantara...said its hours to removed the seat cover and replace.

It's a pain in the ass from what I hear.

I had a quote from a shop near me of $250-300 to do the bolster. Your quote is reasonable.

That part number is available at Tischer (http://www.getbmwparts.com/parts/index.cfm?make=BMW&year=&searchText=52107895594&action=oePartSearch&siteid=214672) and ECS Tuning (http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/52107895594/ES139536/). There are some other interesting options in there, too. I think I'm in love with this one!

M Cloth? Rare! I'm not sure it first the ZHP bolsters as it is a M3 seat.

when you say back cover you mean the front of the seat right? And not a seat cover like some crap you buy at walmart for $20

Yes, the upholstery that your back rests on, not the one your butt rests on. :-) Get to know RealOEM; it's an awesome resource. Here's the "Seat, front, uphlstry, cover, Sport seat" section (http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BD53&mospid=47713&btnr=52_2489&hg=52&fg=10&hl=61) for my 330Ci. The part number I mentioned earlier is highlighted in red toward the bottom. Once you have a part number, you can usually find it for sale at ECS Tuning (http://www.ecstuning.com), Tischer (http://getbmwparts.com), RM European (http://rmeuropean.com), plus a few others (but these allow you to search by BMW part number, which is pretty damn handy).

Thanks man I'm slowly catching on lol. Working on a deal now that's where the picture came from. The whole steering wheel is missing the alcantara I doubt that is unable to be recovered right? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/26/a5utegat.jpg

That's not uncommon. The first ZHP I test drove looked like that, and frankly it was preferable to the booger-encrusted … *thing* I steered my car with. (Check out my project thread for before/after pics from cleaning it). You can get the wheel re-covered by Coby (http://cobywheel.com) for about $200 (and from the pictures, it's nicer than it was from the factory).

Is removing the seat cover a pain.

I refreshed my driver's side ///M seats for my ///M last summer and I can tell you that it was a royal PITA to do this! So many hog rings to take out and then try to reinstall when putting back the seat covers....I ended up using tie wraps instead of hog rings because that was much easier. Very time consuming as well.

The alcantara side bolsters on my driver's side ZHP seats require replacement and I'm not looking forward to doing this during the upcoming summer but I know it has to be done...that's when I'll be installing side bolster bags and lumbar support to my ZHP seats...

Anyway.... if you're not willing to take this on yourself then have an upholstery shop do this for you...:thumbsup

Charlie - by refresh, did you replace the leather cover with a new OEM one?

Bill - I reused the original leather cover because it was in perfect shape. Refresh meaning I had to replace my side bolster air bags and associated air pump. The original ones died and wouldn't work anymore. My ZHP's driver's side alcantara seat seriously needs a refresh but I will have to transfer the heated element over from my original driver's side seat covers. I know Dane has done this and there's a lot more work involved which is why I haven't attempted doing this as of yet...

That is a site for reference. It doesn't sell anything so I would disregard the prices.

Better do 'em now before they become NLA. Could be any day now.

Was just checking on the availability of the Laser/Alcantara upholstery, for verts anyway. According to Sean at the BMW Store everything is NLA, zero available in the US or Germany, except for the rear seat bottom which lists for nearly $600.00. Think there were three of those. Sedans and coupes may have better luck...
