NOT MINE:

But I do have one!

I found this in the trunk of my ZHP about a month after I bought it. My box is it a bit banged up, but the VHS itself is good.

I don't feel like selling it on eBay, but I thought I'd ask if anybody wants it before I tossed it in the garbage.

I wonder if this is like the CD Rom that I got with my ZHP. I put it on my Mac computer but it was in some file format that i don't think computers have been able to read for a long time. I recall being able to play the CDROM itself on my old PC though. I wanted to make them video files but was unsuccessful

This VHS someone could convert to a readable computer file. There is a business that does it downtown near where I work. I could always do that and share the file with the family? Thoughts?

Yea I found the cd, too. It wouldn't play on my iMac. I think I chucked it a while ago.

I think I have a setup where I could record a VHS onto a computer, but it might be awhile. If someone wants this, I can take the VHS and "digitize" it. Hopefully someone else might volunteer first though. :biggrin

I SAID....I could take it to that business and make a computer file for everyone. They convert VHS to computer files

Edit: or if johnrando will do it for free, he should do it :-)

I'd just hate to have someone have to pay to do this.

I use to have a DVD player that could do this... Through that out too... :(

Hmm how much would it cost?

Not sure, probably kinda cheap for 1 video now that I think of it.

Just looked at a website. Minimum 44 dollars for any video project. So we have options. If you can find your equipment we can mail it to you or I can bring it to down south on one of my SoCal trips. Or I can take it to one of these transfer places nearby.

Bottom line is I want to make sure the community at large has access to it somehow. That's what I wanted with that CD Rom I have but it won't cooperate. Haha.

The CD ROM included with the owners manual will play on a non-Intel Mac or any windows laptop if you access to either of these. :)

A non Intel Mac? I have one! I've my moms old PowerBook g4 in the closet I need to sell. Too bad I threw away the disk lol

I wonder why it won't play on the intels.

So... Where am I sending the VHS tape?

SoCalZman

Ill take it. I will try to convince Johnrando to do the transfer. :) I can bring the tape with me on one of my SoCal trips and hand it to him. If not I will take it to a conversion place.

You're in SF? Almost close enough to be cheaper to hand it to you in person/excuse to meet up.

It might play under Rosetta but I think intel macs recognize these type of discs differently. Who knows?!

Rosetta was removed like 2-3 versions of OSX ago.

I might be able to convert my VHS to a DVD then rip it onto my computer and publish it online. I'll look into this a bit.

Yup I think snow leopard is the last to have it. I still have my disc if I need it I guess. But have an ancient Powermac G4 for old stuff like that.

Ok, here is what I've got. I have the first four installments ready. Let me know if this is what you are looking for and I can get the rest of the video transferred. I am not sure what happened, but I think I didn't set the record time long enough. I meant to do it for two hours, but it was only set for one hour. Let me know if you want the rest. I had a small problem. All four installments should be ready this afternoon.

Great job. Yes let's get all of it!

Edit: Are you planning on uploading the video in a place where our other members can download it? If so, I don't think we need Stephen's copy.

Can I toss mine or does somebody want it?

It is from my VHS. I will have the first hour of the video finished this afternoon and I'll post the links.

Here are the first four segments. I'll try and get the rest of the video finished this weekend. I have dubbed it from my copy on VHS to DVD and uploaded it to YouTube. Mods, if this post needs to be moved to a more appropriate home, please feel free to do so.
Enjoy!
