I bought Turner's Stage 1 e46 performance kit (shark tune plus intake). Turner's price on intake is $389 shipped and I later realized Amazon has it for $343 shipped. I may stick with the OEM BMW Performance intake. Would anyone be interested in this intake at $325 shipped?

No pictures as the box hasn't arrived yet. That is how new it is ;).

"Oil-Free" ProDry S Filter

This intake kit replaces your restrictive factory air box. It features a 3-angle aluminum velocity stack adapter, 16-gauge powder-coated steel heat shield, trim sealed to seal out hot engine air, and a custom aFe brand cotton filter.

This version has an oil-free filter media for less maintenance. For the best flowing filter, with the best performance gain, we always recommend the standard aFe "Pro5R " filter (which has a blue pre-oiled filter media), but this oil-free filter flows only slightly less than the blue Pro5R style aFe filter, and requires no re-oiling after cleaning the filter.

By removing your stock intake air box, you are removing the most restrictive portion of your intake system, increasing both horse power and torque, improving acceleration as well as throttle response.

aFe has reported gains as high as 20 hp and 27 lb/ft torque on the 330i

For the maximum benefit in performance, we recommend upgrading your engine software with the Shark Injector (Click here for more info on the Shark Injector performance software.)

This aFe intake fits the following BMWs:
2003-2006 E46 3 series: BMW 325i 325ci 325xi + Wagon & Convertible models with M56 engine
2001-2006 E46 3 series: BMW 330i 330ci 330xi + Convertible
2004-2007 E83 X3: X3 3.0i

I have to say Bill I think you're missing out on THE best aftermarket intake on the market. This thing packs a punch and I felt a significant gain when I switched over from my GruppeM to this on the zhp.

For maximum increase in HP and lb/ft, do you want to install this and then Shark you car? Or is it the other way around?

The Shark tune stays the same, so it doesn't matter. The car will adapt.

I believe you're supposed to get the Shark adapted to suit the intake.
They offer upgrades to the software based on the mods you do.

I thought shark came pre tuned for a CAI but you suffered little to no ill effect using the stock air box. I also thought that they were going to release updates to the tune that you would install with the USB cord attachment but that those updates never manifested... is that still true?

I have the performance intake installed. I was planning to replace that with the afe, but am now leaning towards keeping the performance intake. I'm sure the differences between the two are negligible. I just prefer oem to non when given a choice.
