E39 M52 528. Not sure the year. Sports package. 250,500 miles. And uh.. vinyl carbon fiber wrap!
My zhp got a smoke test and alignment. DISA valve seal is the leak.
I've always wanted to drive an e39. Faster than I expected. Handling is tolerable. Forgot what drive by...physical cable was like.

I laugh every time I walk up to it.

Engine! Looks pretty darn close to the M54 for obvious reasons. I like the expansion tank better.

Quarter million ;)
Only 1 squeak as I drive. No rattles. Still feels pretty solid.

But is that an m54? Intake manifold is clearly different.
Edit: nvm... M52

That is clearly M52 early as it only has single VANOS. Also, since its an E39 it has the overweight iron block version. Should be a 95-99

How's the interior for 250k miles? My bro's E39 needs some work on the inside.

Interiors of my own cars have always been in really good condition. I'll say that if my zhp's interior looks like that at 250k, I wouldn't be too upset.
Seats are doing ok. Carpet is shot. Panels look great. Half the LCDs on the stereo are dead so it's hard to read.
It does LOOK dated, but not in bad condition. Makes me wonder if my e46 looks dated lol

Pixelation occurs not because they are dead, but because there is not enough pressure on them as the face warps over time. I have to fix the E38 for the same issue, I'm just too lazy/busy with other stuff
It will probably happen to E46's as well when they get old

Wow out of all the cars in the world!

JP, is there a way to fix the missing pixels on a business radio? A row if them recently went out on my E46.

Yes, let me find the write up
Edit: This is for MID, but it's probably fairly similar

My brother just did this on his E39 not too long ago and it looks a million times better now. The cleaning process takes the longest time (alcohol + 100 q-tips) but it's fairly easy, just remember the orientation of the wire strip and metal pressure retainer and how it all fits together.

Was kinda sad to hand her over tonight. Was fun for a day.
Asked them about the vinyl. Said it was a salvage title and it was just cheaper to wrap the body panels instead of painting them. Works for me!

No problem, just take lots of pics and post a DIY as people will probably want to know soon as their cars start having this issue

I once had an E39 528iT (yes, touring!) for a loaner. It had almost 320k miles if I remember correctly, automatic. It drove beautifully! A couple of small things didn't work properly but I wasn't concerned about it. I loved the bank vault feeling you get when you close the doors on an E39. :)
