black or gray??

not sure if this is where to post this but being that my car is not a zhp, i figured id keep it out of there.

so the time has come to send my CSL rep 19's to the powdercoater. i was sold on a satin black finish but am now tossing around the idea of gunmetal. looking for opinions just cause. i'll probably go black, but was curious to hear what the mafia has to say. i dont know how to do a poll, so sorry:p

I like it...only because you have the red time attack on it...which adds a lil contrast

So, as I look at those pics, here's my thoughts. Black looks great with those darkly tinted windows. It gives the car a white & black theme which is important to having a car that looks cleanly modded. What I don't like is how black often gets lost in the wheelwell. It blends in with the tire so it all just looks black there. Having a wheel that has lots of varied surfaces to reflect any available light will improve this. Shiny black finishes will obviously work better at reflecting light than matte or flat.

The grey stands out more, allows you to see more of the wheel. If your windows weren't tinted, I'd recommend going with the grey. Since they are tinted and you've already got the black kidneys, black window trim, etc, I think the black would look better. Consider blacking out your headlights and/or adding a front lip, maybe a black roof to really get that B&W theme going on.

Agree. I'm normally a black wheel hater, but on a white car it can play nicely. End of Post. Eli said all there is to say.

I do not like black wheels whatsoever. The only way I would put black wheels on my car is if they were BUTT UGLY, because then you wouldn't be able to see how ugly they were.
But to make NICE looking wheels black completely defeats the purpose. To me, black wheels are no go regardless of what color your car is.

I think AW is the only color that can pull off a black finish, but only in matte. My vote is for gunmetal, just because I think it looks great on every color. You really can't go wrong.

As much as I try, I can't really get with the black wheel look either... it takes a special car/wheel combo to pull that off IMHO. John

this pic is not my car, but looks IDENTICAL! wheels, ride height, tint, splitters, color, kidneys and mtech all the same. (no black roof, cf mirrors or amber delete..yet!) just dont have a pic yet all done and it is filthy right now! splitters on not on yet.
