We just got our first snowfall here in VA that stuck so I decided to go out and have some fun. Unfortunately my tires don't have much tread left so I wasn't moving too quickly haha.

And of course Karen came along too (Matt's first time with her in the snow)

Anyone else go out for a little snow fun?

Haha, it's almost slow-mo. Looks like fun.

Yeah it was a bit snow when they were taking the video. Unfortunately iphone ran out of space so the later stuff that was quicker wasn't video taped

Looks like fun, I couldn't afford to mess up though... those lightpole bases look pretty unforgiving.

Yeah hence the slow speeds haha. Luckily the snow wasn't deep enough to really slide too terribly much. Surprisingly controllable. It was a lot of fun. Some guys in a couple big tuned up diesel trucks came to play around too. Damn those things are loud at WOT!!

Excellent work gents! I had the E36 out "4-wheeling" (maybe it's 1-wheeling?) in the field a couple days ago. Perfect snow depth of about 4" made it a lot of fun. I guess I should break out the GoPro next time around.

Thanks! I'm happy with it. Hoping to get some drive by videos once it warms up a bit.

Thanks for sharing looks like a blast

Snow started here today. Hopefully working from home tomorrow so I don't have to snow drift my way to work.

Unfortunately no action pics but snow was much better tonight! Had a ton of fun with a jeep XJ, f250 and an Audi. Here's some after pics. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/29/ehesyqu2.jpg

Snow was packed in the rear wheels completely before I drove home

This car does just fine in the snow! My michelin A/S are fantastic in the snow. Problem is all the torque this thing has in the low rpm's. But haven't gotten stuck or spun out yet. There's about 4-5" on the ground now.

All seasons are junk in the snow. Try proper winter tires and marvel at the difference :).

Well it doesn't snow enough here to warrant snow tires. If I ever get stuck or have enough snow that it's too difficult to get around then I'll consider it but for now my A/S do just fine. It's not worth spending the $ for an additional set given the winter conditions here. Even on my trip back to school last year in 10" of snow in the ZHP. My michelins did good in my book.

Personally I think driving in the snow is more about driver skill than the tires. Even people with snow tires get stuck and I cruise right on by. Just about being smooth and smart and keeping distance and momentum.

Snow tires would probably make it a lot easier to drift around though haha

Knowing how to drive definitely makes a difference, but driving in the snow w/ A/S tires is not a good idea IMO. You'll be SOL going up or down any real hill.

Here in BC, the local insurance provider will actually not cover you if you get into an accident with inappropriate tires. Many local highways (and all mountains) have signs requiring winter tires (or chains) during certain times of year, and if you don't have them, you essentially don't have insurance.

Difference of location I guess then. I've never gotten stuck going up or down a hill. May be slow getting going though haha I used to live on a very steep hill last year. Took some effort to get up but luckily never was stuck. If I lived up there id definitely get some snow tires!

This has been how I spent the majority of my last two days. So much fun and the ZHP did great!
