View Full Version : Where can I get a CF diffuser?

So i got back from one of my weekly trips to the midwest to find out someone had decided to back into my car while at the airport parking lot and of course drive off with no note or anything...... :facepalm So now I have:
A massive dent under the driver side brake light, to the point that sheet metal is clearly visible and chunks of the paint are gone
Scratches all over the driver side of the bumper and molding
Cracked CF diffuser
One broken bracket off the UUC exhaust
That being said, the estimator at the insurance/collision center said I will need to try to track down the CF diffuser. Since I really REALLY don't want him to go to ebay and get one, where else can I find this? I've only found one place so far:
http://www.khoalty.com/bmw-e46-carbon-fiber-mtech-diffusor.html
Where have you all gotten your CF diffusers from? (links would be greatly appreciated)

Send Rando a PM....I think he has a good contact for a new carbon fiber diffuser. :thumbsup
Sorry to hear about your incident...

i now have an OEM one on but my prev replica was excellent. It was by a company called euro-spec, for around $250, but this was a couple of years ago. Want me to find contact info?

I can attest to the quality of John's previous one because I have it for my ZHP :thumbsup

Not the best angle and lighting but I assure you this is an awesome diffuser...

Thanks guys for digging into this. Yea it sucks I got hit but meh...whatever, minor cosmetics to fix. Better than getting hit while driving I suppose.
Let me know what you find John.

Send Ray (Smilez) a message, I swear I remember somebody saying he has access to them but that post was years ago

Sorry to hear about the hit.
Sorry to hear.
I was also in the market for a cf diffuser and then ended up just purchasing an OEM. This was mostly because I was not able to find an OEM unit and was not sure about the replicas.

I wouldn't write off Khoalty if it's the lowest price option out there. I've purchased everything from splitters to bulbs, fog duct covers, etc. from them and fitment for everything was always 8.5/10 at the very least. As in, you can't see anything to insinuate that it's not factory unless you're up close looking for it.

I found the contact info and reached out. I'll let you know what he says.

Sorry to hear that OP!
I didn't know that they had OEM CF diffusers!!! That is insane. I want that setup too! How much for an OEM one?
johnrando

You can't find an OEM one. I've seen 1 for sale the entire time I've had my car, which is since '09, so I bought it last year.

The last price I saw for the factory one before they disappeared was about $620
Tischer BMW used to sell OEM units. I had reached out to them when I was looking for one and they are no longer produced plus not a single on in stock.
Best bet is to find a used one but they will be expensive. That is why I just got an OEM one.

I just sent my insurance guy the link to the one from Khoalty. Hopefully they have it in stock and I get one ordered up, we'll see I guess.

The body shop that did the work ordered the one I sent them from Kholty. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand of course they didn't put it on right. Standing back a few feet from the car....dat gap, between the diffuser and the bumper :facepalm
So now I have to work on it this weekend to take it off and put it back on correctly. As soon as I picked up the car I just kinda looked at the guy like seriously? Oh well, i guess when you don't own the car(s) you are not as anal about things like the owner is. I wouldn't even let him wash the car after they were done. I was like, ummmmm no DO NOT WASH MY CAR!!!!! lol He told me nobody has turned down a car wash before.

I got my extra one from the same guy doing c/f splitters, but he's out of business now. No idea where you'd get one. I wasn't impressed with Khoalty's splitters (I sent mine back), but no idea about their diffusers.

Just noticed Khoalty has these in stock for $200 with free shipping. Looks like they're made by BumperMW. Does anyone have one from there? Wondering how the fitment is.

Googled that piece and found some guy from NYC bitching on e46fanatics that he couldn't get his to fit, and the guy from khoalty dropped in to say that fit issues were atypical. Not helpful, is it? ;)

I bought one from Khoalty and the fitment is okay. The top part of the diffuser sometimes fall out of its position and shows a bit of a gap.
The "clips" on the Khoalty diffuser doesn't do anything, so you will have to drill it.
I thin it really depends on luck because they make them in batches and if you get a bad one from a bad batch then you are stuck with a bad diffuser.
Overall 3.5/5.
Here are some pictures of mine.
