Hello to all ZHPMafia members! I've been following this forum for awhile now due to how helpful everyone is here. Let me start off by saying that I am so glad I decided to pick this car up. I purchased a 2004 330ci ZHP 6mt with 55,000 miles at the Asheville,NC BMW dealership. PO was an older gentleman who kept this car in the garage all the time. Ive had the car since Feb2013 and had to let it sit for a few months while I deployed. Currently the car runs great and I am in the process of doing some minty mods. So far I have done this:
-tint windows 25%
-AFE Stage 1 prodry intake
-shark injector
-12.5mm spacers in the rear from Black Forest Industries
-BMW performance shift knob
-fresh oil change with liquimolly
I also have some parts that I am waiting to install including:
-Powerflex FCAB's
-UUC trans mount enforcer kit
-Mann fuel filter
-TMS Power Pulley kit
-Sprint Booster
-oem aux cable
-JOM blueline coilover kit
Anyways Im glad that I can be apart of this forum and look forward to learning about this car some more. Pictures to come soon!
-Jordan

Thanks Dane, I just ordered them today. Black Forest will be doing the install this friday. I'll let you guys know how they feel for sure. I wont be going too low. I just want a little more aggressive stance. I was a little bit hesitant with how cheap they are but the guys at Black Forest assured me that they were certain that if I dont plan on tracking the car then they should be fine.

alright so friday i went up to black forest industries in raleigh and had my JOM blueline coilovers installed. let me say this, for the price i paid...i couldnt be happier. not sure on the exact measurements but they dropped it down as much as they could without rubbing.
-ride comfort is almost identical to the stock zhp suspension except if i run over a larger bump.
-the car already felt like it hugged the road before and it still feels that way maybe just a bit better.
-over all these coilovers surprised me with how comfortable they feel and how well they look.
they did have to cut and reweld shorter sway bar endlinks to make it fit and they did a good job.
i also put in the sprint booster this weekend. as for that, i was expecting a little better repsonse... possibly because i already have the shark injector.
next weekend should be the fuel filter, CDV, and hopefully the underdrive pulley kit

Yeah, don't speed on the parkway. Every other road is pretty much fair game. We did a run last sunday and I am going up again this sat to do a photoshoot with Forward Motion Magazine. they are featuring my car. Feel free to join us. Went over a lip in the road as I was turning, rear wheel came up and when it came back down lost traction. Tried to put power down and pull myself out of it but I was just casually driving to work so my traction control was ENABLED and wasn't able to bring her back. Slid down a ditch back wards and hit a sign. I didnt like that "Children Crossing" sign anyways -_-

Well hello again everyone. I got my car back from the body shop about a month ago but not even a few days later I had to be in New Mexico for 3 weeks. So now that I'm home I can start some work. First day back I finally got my tms pulleys and a new belt on. This week I'm looking to order a LSD. Any input on what the best route for under $2,000 would be?

I've been eyeballing that but I don't like the fluid deal.. How hard is the install on something like that? Also what would I need (parts) to swap an m3 diff in there?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hermes
04-02-2014, 10:17 AM
do the OS Giken, it will end up costing about the same as swapping the whole M3 rear end and adapting

Fat-Ham
04-02-2014, 10:19 AM
Performance wise; how big of a difference will I feel? I know that there's obviously not more power, but being able to put power down to the wheels.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hermes
04-02-2014, 10:22 AM
both can handle more power than you're gonna be able to throw at it, the point of what I'm saying is ease of install is on the side of the SuperLock as it fits in the stock case and requires no other mods. The M3 LSD requires a lot more than just the diff

edit: unless you still have the stock 3.07, then you will need to get a different open diff to put the pumpkin into as it says "(not for 3.07, 2.93 or any ratios lower than 3.15)"

Avetiso
04-02-2014, 10:23 AM
M3 diff setup can be had for ~$1,000 IF you can find a deal, but it's definitely a lot more work.

Hermes
04-02-2014, 10:26 AM
it needs more stuff to work... it ends up costing around $2k even if you get the rear end for $1000

Fat-Ham
04-02-2014, 10:28 AM
Yeah that makes sense. Now what if later I want to go with a greater gear ratio? Will the os giken still work if I swap out the dif?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hermes
04-02-2014, 10:28 AM
3.15<->3.46, somewhere in that range

Fat-Ham
04-02-2014, 10:29 AM

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

M5 is 3.15

Fat-Ham
04-02-2014, 10:31 AM
Ahh that sucks. So I have to get bigger gears before I go LSD?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hermes
04-02-2014, 10:33 AM
No, you just order the SuperLock in what ratio and number of clutches you want

What you need is a diff from an auto 330, ZHP or not doesn't matter

slater
04-02-2014, 12:16 PM
the idea of using the stock case is nice because no other bits need to change; however, in light of a recent subframe-area sheetmetal tear-out, it does make sense to reinforce the sheetmetal and replace the subframe mounts "while you're in there".... in which case an M3 rear end might not be that bad cost- or work-wise.

also, check out www.diffsonline.com - they have a 2- and 3-clutch LSD option for the stock cases, cheaper than the OS Giken.

but OS Giken also makes pumpkins for the M3 case... and the SuperLock is capable of up to 28 discs for 100% lock

Yeah I'm completely against black wheels on my color of car but the hyper black are different in a sense. They're more of a silver shiny black. Depending on the light. Mod bargains doesn't even have them anymore so that's out the window. The next choice is the new v810 hyper silver. I wish I could see how they looked on the car first though. Haven't seen anyone with these rims on an e46 coupe

Is there a DIY on here how to roll the rear fenders? Got a guy here about to do it but he's iffy because the fenders feel too hard

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

johnrando
04-14-2014, 02:22 PM
You can definitely roll them, they aren't too hard. Hundreds of them have been done. You have an actual roller? Just heat up the fenders with a heat gun or hair dryer, and do a section at a time. Line up the roller, then pull toward you while you roll left and right. Once you get that part bent in, tighten the roller some more so it's lined up closer, then repeat. Continue to heat the paint as you go... it doesn't need to be super hot. Not much of a DIY, but that's what you do. It's easier to see it than to describe it.

Fat-Ham
04-14-2014, 02:22 PM
What about the filler in between the fender

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

johnrando
04-14-2014, 02:26 PM
Oh yeah, thanks. Before you start rolling, use some kind of a bent pick to dig out the gunk/grime between the fenders and the lip. Some people even say the best way is to completely dig out the protective layer too, then apply a reseal, as that way you can get the lip the flattest.

Fat-Ham
04-14-2014, 04:21 PM
