Hi Guys,
My Name is Damian and I started looking for a ZHP when my prior 330i was deemed a total loss due to being rear-ended by a young chick in rush hour traffic. I have no doubt she was texting and CHP found her to be 100% at fault.

Anywho, thanks to the positive and informative community on this website and countless hours of research I am now obsessed with finding a ZHP for my next dd. I look forward to being a member.

Thx for the welcome wagon. I just put a deposit on what i believe to be one helluva deal. 03 330i ZHP with 114,500 miles. It needs some work but appears to be relatively minor from what i could tell. I'm stoked to get out of this beater and back in an ultimate driving machine.

Welcome! Good luck with your search here in SoCal! There are a handful of good looking cars on craigslist here in Los Angeles, but they are mostly automatics.

There's a nice Imola in the San Jose area. I'd talk this guy down. Paint looks pretty Minty!

I just picked it up. Will post some pix later. it might just be me but I thought I saw a plume of smoke coming out of the hoods for a split second. Popped the hoods and nothing

Could be the valve cover gasket leaking.

But it's so perfectly faded... it's like 100% gray. :rofl Why paint it?

Damian, car looks great. Congrats on the pick up.

looks like some investigation is in order this weekend. I got under car and saw what looks like a power steering hose leaking under the engine but don't think it would have caused the smoking. Or would it?

They all develop power steering hose leaks eventually. If it's the long hose with the metal elbow on the right side, it might be leaking ATF, or it could be oil on it from a failed oil filter housing gasket. Or it might be both!

Any liquid leaking onto hot engine could "smoke" as the material is burned and/or vaporized.

Nice find! How many miles? more pics!

Changed out spark plus today and found the culprit. Oil is leaking from the end washers in center of valve cover. May be called valve cover seals? Ordering the kit through importec and will get it fixed next weekend. Also will post more pics after I clean her up and give a nice wax on Monday ( :thumbsup for holiday)

It is the long PS hose. Looks like a bad seal at connection. I will be ordering a new one to install next weekend. Another weekend wrenching. :biggrin

Prolly should look at the p/s reservoir as well and the hoses coming from it...those were a culprit on my car. The hoses and one time use clamps give up the ghost after so many years!
