View Full Version : Off Topic is Off the Grid

As of this morning the entire Off Topic forum is now visible only to registered, approved members of the site.
Visitors, unconfirmed registrants, banned users, etc. will not be able to see, post, nor search the OT forum.
This still differs from the Members Only forum as any new member will have total access to OT immediately, whereas they will not have access to Members only until they reach a predetermined number of posts.
The goal was to provide a higher degree of privacy in our OT discussions while keeping any changes as seamless as possible for the membership.
We are confident this adjustment will achieve those goals.
Thanks as always for the support. :mafia

I had to CTRL+F "off topic" after I was sure I was going nuts and it led me here.
Good call! Makes perfect sense.

I know this is a little off topic (see what I did there?) but what about the "How much did you pay for your ZHP thread?"
http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?376-BMW-330-ZHP-Prices-How-Much-Did-You-Pay
Maybe we should make this an only members viewable thread too? It realize it is helpful to those purchasing their first ZHP... but since now we have open enrollment they could just make an account and join the group. The price we paid for the car is rather a private matter (especially when it comes to selling - god forbid me from ever doing this!) and I'm sure we all acknowledge the "risk" when we post, but I think it would be nice to have a member's only thread. All I ask is for you to consider it.
Thanks,

We will certainly discuss it. That being said we have to be careful how much we move behind closed doors here.
More private forums/threads mean less traffic which means we attract less affiliate advertisers.
The site's long-term health depends on generating enough affiliate advertiser revenue to offset the costs of running the site (which is why we appreciate it so much when the family uses the affiliate links for purchases).
